Full Job Description
We are seeking a strategic, commercially minded Director, Business Development to lead high-impact corporate development initiatives that advance innovation and long-term growth. In this senior leadership role, you will identify and execute acquisitions, licensing opportunities, strategic partnerships, investments, and other transactions that strengthen the company's portfolio and market position. You will serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership while guiding complex, cross-functional deal teams from opportunity assessment through closing and transition planning.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the identification, evaluation, prioritization, and execution of acquisitions, licensing agreements, partnerships, strategic investments, joint ventures, and related corporate development opportunities.
  • Build and maintain a robust pipeline of external innovation opportunities aligned with corporate strategy, technology platforms, customer segments, and adjacent markets.
  • Serve as the transaction lead throughout the deal lifecycle, including opportunity qualification, business case development, deal strategy, negotiation planning, executive communication, closing, and transition support.
  • Develop clear, comprehensive investment recommendations that synthesize strategic rationale, market opportunity, commercial potential, financial valuation, technical considerations, integration complexity, and risk.
  • Lead cross-functional transaction teams spanning R&D, Intellectual Property, Finance, Commercial, Marketing, Regulatory, Quality, Operations, Supply Chain, and Legal to drive alignment and timely decision-making.
  • Prepare concise, decision-ready materials for executive leadership, investment committees, and board-level reviews, clearly communicating recommendations, alternatives, risks, financial impact, and strategic implications.
Job Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree required in business, science, engineering, finance, or a related field; an advanced degree, such as an MBA, MS, PhD, JD, or comparable advanced scientific or business degree, is preferred.
  • At least 10 years of relevant experience in business development, corporate development, strategy, licensing, investment banking, management consulting, venture investing, R&D, product development, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience leading completed business development transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, licensing agreements, strategic partnerships, or investments.
  • Strong knowledge of the life sciences, diagnostics, digital health, healthcare technology, food safety, or animal health ecosystems; experience with platform-based hardware, software, data, or AI technologies is preferred.
  • Proven ability to translate complex technical, market, and commercial inputs into sound strategic recommendations and financial implications for senior stakeholders.
  • Exceptional negotiation, communication, executive presentation, stakeholder management, and cross-functional leadership skills.
