Full Job Description
The Philadelphia office of White and Williams LLP, a large multi-practice law firm, is seeking a Director of Billing and Collections. This role is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing the firm's end-to-end revenue cycle, including billing, e-billing, and collections operations. This position leads a high-performing team of billing and collections professionals and drives process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, reduce receivables, and accelerate cash realization.

Key Responsibilities

Billing and Revenue Cycle Management
  • Oversee the full billing lifecycle, from time entry through invoice generation, submission, and payment tracking
  • Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with client billing guidelines and outside counsel requirements
  • Manage high-volume e-billing operations across multiple vendor platforms
  • Monitor billing performance metrics and identify opportunities to improve cycle times and reduce rejections

Collections Leadership
  • Lead and develop the collections team, driving consistent follow-up on outstanding receivables
  • Partner with attorneys and practice group leaders to implement effective collection strategies
  • Analyze aging reports and proactively address delinquent accounts
  • Establish and maintain a disciplined collections process across the firm

Process Improvement and Operations
  • Evaluate and redesign billing and collections workflows to increase efficiency and scalability
  • Identify root causes of delays, write-offs, and billing issues, and implement corrective actions
  • Drive adoption of best practices across time entry, billing, and collections processes
  • Leverage technology and automation to streamline operations and reduce manual effort

E-Billing and Systems Management
  • Oversee all e-billing system activity, including setup, submissions, appeals, and troubleshooting
  • Ensure compliance with client-specific billing requirements, including formats, approvals, and budgets
  • Serve as the firm's subject matter expert for Aderant billing and accounts receivable functionality
  • Maintain strong working knowledge of major e-billing platforms and evolving industry standards

Leadership and Team Development
  • Manage, mentor, and develop a team of billing and collections professionals
  • Foster a collaborative, accountable, and service-oriented culture
  • Set clear performance expectations and provide ongoing coaching and feedback
  • Ensure appropriate staffing and resource allocation to meet firm demands

Reporting and Strategic Insight
  • Provide regular reporting and actionable insights to firm leadership on billing and collections performance
  • Identify trends, risks, and opportunities impacting revenue realization
  • Partner with firm leadership to develop strategies to reduce accounts receivable and improve cash flow
  • Support firmwide financial initiatives and revenue goals
