Director of Benefits

Build the Benefits Strategy for a Growing, Multi-State Healthcare Organization

Beachwood, Ohio | Corporate Leadership | On-Site

This isn't an opportunity to simply administer an existing benefits program.

It's an opportunity to shape what comes next.

We are searching for an exceptional Director of Benefits to take ownership of benefits strategy across a large, complex, and growing healthcare organization. With employees working across multiple states, locations, and levels of the organization, we need a benefits leader who knows what it means to operate at enterprise scale - and is excited by the opportunity to build, improve, influence, and lead.

This is a highly visible corporate leadership position with the opportunity to work alongside senior executives and directly influence one of the organization's most important investments: our people.

If you've spent your career managing sophisticated benefit programs for thousands of employees and are ready for a position where your expertise can genuinely shape an organization, this is that opportunity.

Your Impact

As Director of Benefits, you will have significant ownership over the strategy, structure, financial performance, administration, and employee experience surrounding our benefits programs.

You won't simply maintain programs - you'll evaluate them, challenge them, improve them, and help determine where we go next.

You will:
  • Lead the overall strategy and administration of comprehensive employee benefit programs across a large, multi-state workforce.
  • Serve as the organization's senior authority and strategic advisor on employee benefits.
  • Partner directly with executive leadership, Human Resources, Finance, Payroll, and Operations to ensure our benefits strategy supports both our employees and the long-term goals of the organization.
  • Lead medical, dental, vision, life, disability, retirement, voluntary benefits, and other employee benefit programs.
  • Take ownership of annual renewals, open enrollment, plan design, benefit implementations, and strategic initiatives.
  • Analyze claims, utilization, participation, demographic trends, and benefit spend to identify meaningful opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop innovative strategies to control costs while maintaining competitive, meaningful benefits for our employees.
  • Lead negotiations and strategic relationships with brokers, carriers, consultants, TPAs, and other benefit partners.
  • Evaluate our current benefit structure and identify opportunities to modernize programs, streamline administration, improve technology, and elevate the employee experience.
  • Ensure compliance with ERISA, ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA, and other applicable federal and state requirements.
  • Oversee benefits-related audits, reporting, policies, processes, documentation, and regulatory requirements.
  • Partner with Payroll and HR teams to ensure accuracy across eligibility, enrollment, deductions, and employee records.
  • Develop communication and education strategies that make benefits easier for employees to understand and use.
  • Lead complex benefit issues and escalations with the judgment expected of a senior corporate leader.
  • Help build the infrastructure necessary to support the organization as it continues to grow and evolve.

We're Looking for Someone Who Has Done This at Scale

This is not an entry point into benefits leadership.

We are looking for someone who has already experienced the complexity of supporting a large employee population and understands that benefits at this level require equal parts strategy, financial discipline, operational execution, compliance expertise, and leadership.

Our ideal candidate brings:
  • Significant progressive experience in employee benefits with leadership experience at the Director, Senior Director, or equivalent level.
  • Demonstrated experience overseeing benefits for a large-scale, multi-location and preferably multi-state employee population.
  • Deep knowledge of health and welfare benefits, retirement programs, leave programs, and voluntary benefits.
  • Strong command of benefits compliance and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience leading major annual renewals, open enrollment, vendor negotiations, plan implementations, and benefit transformations.
  • Sophisticated analytical skills with the ability to understand claims experience, utilization, benefit spend, forecasting, and cost trends - and turn that data into strategy.
  • Experience holding brokers, carriers, TPAs, consultants, and vendors accountable for performance.
  • The executive presence to communicate effectively with senior leadership while remaining approachable and responsive to employees and operational teams.
  • The ability to move comfortably between big-picture strategy and hands-on execution.
  • A mindset that continuously asks: How can we make this better?

Experience supporting a large workforce within healthcare, senior living, long-term care, or another complex multi-site organization is strongly preferred.

A bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, or a related discipline is preferred. Advanced benefits or HR certifications are a plus.

This Is More Than a Benefits Position

This is an opportunity to put your fingerprint on an organization.

You'll inherit the scale and complexity that makes the work interesting - while having the opportunity to influence how our benefits function evolves for the future.

We want someone who sees beyond open enrollment.

Someone who understands that benefits influence recruitment, retention, employee engagement, financial performance, and the overall employee experience.

Someone who can walk into an executive meeting with the data, explain what it means, recommend a direction, and then lead the organization through execution.

Most importantly, we're looking for someone who wants to build something meaningful.

For the right benefits leader, this is the opportunity to take everything you've learned managing benefits at scale and use it to make a lasting impact across an organization that is continuing to grow.

Ready for your next big challenge?

If you're an accomplished benefits leader who has operated at scale and you're looking for a position where you'll have visibility, ownership, influence, and the opportunity to create meaningful change, we want to meet you.

This position is based in our Beachwood, Ohio corporate office and requires an on-site presence.

Apply today and help us build the future of our employee benefits strategy.
