Summary of Duties and Responsibilities

The Director of Attorney Talent is responsible for attorney recruitment, retention, and development. OAG is committed to excellence in a highly skilled, well-trained, and diverse legal workforce.

Recruitment responsibilities include working with various Division and Bureau Chiefs to assess current vacancies, developing strategies to recruit candidates for all OAG offices as needed, reviewing resumes, and participating in interviews. The Director is also responsible for managing information in the relevant databases and communicating with potential candidates. The Director is also responsible for marketing, recruiting, and reviewing candidates for the Office's clerkship programs.

Retention responsibilities include designing and implementing strategies and programs to improve attorney retention, improve job satisfaction, and decrease attorney attrition.

Professional development responsibilities include working with content experts inside and outside the Office to create customized content on various professional development topics. The Director will also lead, facilitate, and evaluate training sessions of various types.

The Director supervises a Deputy Director; an Assistant Attorney General; a Continuing Legal Education Program Specialist; and a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Specialist. The Director reports to the Deputy Chief of Staff for Administration and confers regularly with the Chief of Staff, Chief Deputy, and Executive Deputy Attorney General.
Qualifications

This position requires graduation from an accredited law school and at least 5 years' relevant experience. Experience in recruiting, retention, and professional development are preferred. Attendance and the ability to maintain satisfactory working relationships with other employees and the general public are essential functions of this position.
