Director of Asset Logistics - Prism Electric

Position Summary: The Director of Asset Logistics is responsible for the strategic oversight and day-to-day management of the company's tools, equipment, and asset logistics operations. This role owns the asset management system, tool inventory and ordering processes, and the transportation and delivery logistics that keep field teams supplied across all jobsites in Texas and Oklahoma. The ideal candidate is a process-driven operator who can utilize and develop the asset management system, build scalable systems, lead a department team, and ensure the right tools and equipment are at the right jobsite consistently.

Department Leadership

  • Build, lead, and develop the Asset Logistics department, including warehouse staff, tool coordinators, delivery drivers, and tool room personnel.
  • Set department goals, KPIs, and performance standards; conduct regular performance reviews and coaching.
  • Establish staffing plans, schedules, and coverage to support jobsite demand across all Texas and Oklahoma branch office locations and jobsites.
  • Develop and maintain department policies, procedures, and training materials.
  • Manage department budget, including labor, equipment purchases, vehicle and fleet costs, and operating expenses.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact between Asset Logistics and Project Management, Operations, Safety, and Executive leadership, and all other related teams.


Asset Management System Oversight

  • Develop and manage the company's asset and tool management system, including but not limited to tracking, check-in/check-out, GPS/RFID tagging, and maintenance logs.
  • Ensure asset data integrity, accurate records of tool location, condition, utilization, and lifecycle status
  • Drive adoption and proper usage of the system across all jobsites and field personnel.
  • Generate and analyze reports on asset utilization, loss and theft trends, maintenance costs, and inventory turnover.
  • Evaluate and recommend upgrades or new technology to improve asset tracking and visibility.


Tool Management and Ordering

  • Oversee the full lifecycle of tools and equipment including procurement, receiving, tagging, storage, deployment, maintenance, repair, and disposal.
  • Manage the tool ordering process, including vendor relationships, purchase approvals, and cost control.
  • Maintain optimal inventory levels to prevent shortages or overstock across warehouses and jobsites.
  • Negotiate pricing and terms with tool and equipment vendors and suppliers.
  • Implement preventive maintenance and calibration programs to extend asset life and ensure safety compliance.
  • Investigate and resolve lost, stolen, or damaged equipment issues.


Logistics and Jobsite Coordination

  • Coordinate delivery and pickup of tools and equipment to and from jobsites throughout Texas and Oklahoma.
  • Manage fleet vehicles, drivers, and delivery routes and schedules to maximize efficiency and minimize downtime.
  • Partner with Project Managers and Superintendents to forecast tool and equipment needs based on project schedules.
  • Develop contingency plans for urgent or emergency tool needs on active jobsites.
  • Optimize warehouse locations and staging areas to reduce transit time and delivery costs across the two-state service area.


Process Improvement and Efficiency

  • Identify and implement automation or technology solutions to streamline operations.
  • Continuously evaluate and refine department workflows to reduce costs, downtime, and administrative burden.
  • Establish standardized procedures for tool requests, approvals, tracking, and returns.
  • Track key metrics including utilization rates, order lead times, delivery times, loss rates, cost per jobsite, and report trends to leadership team.
  • Lead root-cause analysis on recurring issues including delays, shortages, damage, and implement corrective actions.


Additional Responsibilities

  • Ensure all asset logistics operations comply with safety regulations, company policy, and applicable federal and state requirements.
  • Support audits, internal or insurance-related, involving tools, equipment, and fleet assets.
  • Manage relationships with third-party vendors, rental companies, and logistics partners.
  • Participate in strategic planning for growth, including new warehouse locations as the company expands.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support company operations.

Requirements

  • Experience in the electrical contracting or broader construction industry.
  • Experience managing multi-state logistics operations.
  • Familiarity with RFID and GPS asset tracking technology.
  • Experience with fleet management software.
  • APICS, CSCP, CPSM, or similar supply chain and logistics certification.
  • Proven people management, performance management, and team development skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication with strong attention to detail.
