Your Opportunity

The primary role of the Director of Asset Integrity is to support, organize, and manage teams of diverse staff working on energy integrity projects and assessments such as: inspection planning, inspection data review, fitness for service assessments, engineering assessment reports, finite element analysis, stress and dent analysis, material evaluations, integrity program development and reviews/audits, integrity data integration and QA/QC data reviews, piping and pipeline modifications and repairs, GIS practices & solutions, safety and loss management systems, and assist in the development of new analytical tools or new approaches to integrity challenges.

The Director of Asset Integrity shall ensure quality work and steward continuous improvement in quality and technical excellence. You will optimize work processes and collaboration and ensure the financial viability of the discipline by stewarding the blend of technical resources to execute projects efficiently and effectively. It is expected that this role will include acting as a Project Manager or Technical Advisor on selected projects. This role will also support business development related to the sustainment and growth of this team by pursuing new integrity related business opportunities.

Your Key Responsibilities:

The responsibilities of the Director of Asset Integrity fall into three categories: technical, administrative and business development. The relative amount of these categories will vary, depending upon project workload.

Technical & Project Management Expectations:
  • Provide expertise, support, and mentorship in integrity programs and integrity assessments.
  • Provide practical solutions for addressing regulatory requirements and industry best practices by establishing alignment and appropriate handoff between survey, inspection, construction and engineering, and through the development and application of integrity assessments.
  • Provide leadership in developing management systems and programs.
  • Coach and mentor team leads and subject matter experts with a focus on innovation and developing industry best practices.
  • Identify industry leading edge technologies (materials, processes, analytical techniques) that would place Stantec as an industry leader.
  • Utilize technical expertise / experience to add value to both integrity and engineering design projects, maintaining a personal utilization target between 25% to 40%.
  • Maintain and promote a culture of accountability, ownership, and excellence in the successful execution of technical work.
  • Ensure Stantec Quality System requirements are met, including project deliverables that are properly prepared, checked, reviewed and approved for submittal.
  • Ensure NCR's and quality improvements are closed and findings are implemented.

Administrative Expectations:
  • Conduct resource planning and forecasts for project execution (minimizing non-chargeable time) and ensure team utilization targets are monitored and achieved.
  • Recruit, retain, mentor, coach, and lead all levels of team members, including developing succession plans for key roles and identifying/addressing capability gaps within the integrity discipline.
  • Prioritize the development, retention and application of technical integrity knowledge across the team.
  • Be accountable for team budgets pertaining to training and development and industry event attendance.
  • Foster and support the development and refinement of quality-endorsed integrity assessment processes.
  • Foster and prioritize the preparation and delivery of shared learnings (e.g. through lunch & learns) by team members.
  • Lead annual employee activities including annual reviews and career development planning for team managers and direct reports.
  • Ensure compliance with Stantec's health, safety, security, environment (HSSE) program, with a focus on safety leadership.

Business Development Expectations:
  • Support marketing efforts as part of growth strategy of Integrity Division.
  • Prepare, review, and support Integrity project proposals.
  • Establish new client contacts for Integrity Engineering Services.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with existing and potential clients at the initiation of new projects or when pursuing potential projects.
  • Ensure building and maintaining the network across Stantec's Energy and Resources business line and regions to support collaboration.


Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Practical Experience with oil/gas and/or industrial operations (pipelines, plants, processing facilities)
  • Demonstrated technical proficiency in conducting Fitness for Service and Risk Assessments
  • Demonstrated technical proficiency in supporting Integrity Management Plans
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and other software tools
  • Demonstrated technical proficiency in writing technical documents and reports
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, analytical and problem-solving skills are essential
  • Well-organized and able to plan activities to meet multiple project workloads and schedules

Education and Experience
  • Minimum B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering or Materials/ Metallurgical is preferred
  • Minimum 15 years work experience related to asset integrity within the Canadian and international energy industry, with a minimum of 5 years in a managerial role.
  • P. Eng. status recognized by APEGA or other provincial jurisdiction and qualifications recognized by AMPP/NACE, ASM, API preferred
  • Experienced with Canadian and US standards, practices and applicable legislation

The position will primarily work in an office setting. Stantec is proud to offer a hybrid work environment, and the opportunity to work from your home office may be considered, however, due to the leadership component of this role, a large in-office presence will be required. Periodic travel will be required to other Stantec office locations, the field, and/or client meetings.

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
