We are currently in search of a Director of Advancement - Major and Planned Giving to join our Development team! The Director of Advancement - Major and Planned Giving is part of a Development team serving in a dual capacity as both a major gift officer and planned giving officer. This position manages a focused number of strategic major gift relationships while serving as a key team member in Feed the Children's planned giving efforts. The role combines relationship-based major gift fundraising with planned giving cultivation and stewardship to maximize philanthropic support for Feed the Children's mission and bold growth goals.

Note: The ideal candidate for this position will work hybrid from our corporate office in Oklahoma City, OK, however all qualified candidates will be considered nationwide.

Job Requirements:

Education

Bachelors' degree required

Experience

5+ years' experience in successful major gift fundraising

Proven track record in soliciting and securing six figure gifts, and ability to lead cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activities for portfolio of 75-150 donors and prospects

Prior experience with a donor management system required

Passion and creative energy for major gift and planned giving fundraising required

Strong experience in development procedures and practices, including goal setting, work planning and program evaluation required

Understanding of database reporting, word processing, and spreadsheets required

Familiarity with Microsoft Office and emerging collaboration software tools

Essential Job Functions:

Major Gift Responsibilities:

Maintains and develops a focused portfolio of 50-75 current and prospective major donors with a special emphasis on developing high value-exchange relationships to recognize, evaluate and cultivate five and six-figure philanthropic commitments to support the mission and goals of Feed the Children.

Responsible for the following aspects of the major gift cycle:

• Identifies and initiates contact with potential major gift donors
• Develops appropriate cultivation strategies for prospective donors and the existing portfolio
• Documents prospect/donor touchpoints
• Moves potential donors in an appropriate and timely fashion toward solicitation and closure
• Makes solicitations
• Maintains stewardship contacts with donors; adheres to the highest ethical standards; demonstrates empathetic disposition, and perseverance; reflects optimistic and positive attitude, and conveys sensitivity to needs of the donors

Acquires new leadership donors or upgrades current donors to leadership gifts as part of their portfolio.

Planned Giving Responsibilities:

Coordinates and manages planned giving fundraising activities, including working with planned giving prospects and supporting the marketing of planned giving opportunities.

Responsible for the following aspects of the planned gift cycle:

• Manages planned giving activities including prospect cultivation and supporting marketing efforts.
• Secures planned giving commitments through wills, bequests, trusts, life insurance, gift annuities, and other vehicles.
• Cultivates planned giving leads generated by marketing toward gift commitments through personal visits and relationship building.
• Collaborates with external estate-planning, financial-planning, tax and law experts regarding planned giving opportunities that may benefit major gift donors.
• Stewards planned giving commitments through regular communication and personal visits with estate gift donors

Establishes strong working relationships with other staff, working cooperatively with all team members to attain their overall financial and advancement goals.

Must travel domestically at least 25% of the time to visit donors and prospects.

Speaks on behalf of Feed the Children at meetings of local churches, clubs, businesses, and other organizations.

Must maintain knowledge of global humanitarian work and issues facing children who live in poverty.

Assists in conceptualizing, crafting, and writing development marketing materials and communication pieces.
Maintain current knowledge of organizational goals, initiatives, and funding priorities to effectively align donor interests with mission-driven opportunities and philanthropic investment.

Models the type and level of behavior, professionalism and leadership that is in accordance with the values of the organization.

Ensures compliance with all relevant regulations and laws; maintains accountability standards.

Maintain accurate donor and prospect records in the BBCRM, leveraging data to support cultivation, stewardship, solicitation, gift processing, and fundraising strategy.
