About the role

The North America Business Unit represents the largest market for eBay Inc. and is the home to our Global Headquarters in San Jose.

The Director of Buyer Engagement will own the end to end Buyer experience and Trading strategy for North America.

At the heart of eBay's community are the enthusiasts who buy on our platform. As the leader of Buyer Engagement, you'll be leading a team that advocates for eBay buyers across the region, developing strategies & incentives to support their growth.

What you will accomplish
  • Performance: Accountable for all aspects of buyer engagement across US and Canada, including key metrics (e.g. GMB, buyer growth, conversion, CSAT)
  • Value Prop: Define clear buyer experience vision and bring to life by driving key improvements, including but not limited to cross-functional initiatives
  • Collaboration: Lead and work effectively across a matrix of partners to ensure we create great customer experiences and deliver on financial commitments, while creating alignment and support across the organization
  • Insights: Establish and track key success metrics; identify gaps and develop analytical insights that drive decisions, investments, and corrective actions
  • Ownership: Act as the thought leader and end-to-end owner of buyer engagement across vision, planning, execution, and optimization
  • Leadership: Build followership to inspire partner teams of so that we drive great buyer and business results, while modeling eBay DNA
  • Reporting: Report key business and project metrics, craft strategic narratives, and serve as a sparring partner for the VP/General Manager of North America
  • Strategy: Partner with VP/GM of North America to set vision; drive execution and key outcomes via direct teams and cross-functional partners
  • Market Intel: Serve as the subject authority on Buyer trends and use insights to grow ebay's buyer base in alignment with our Focus Experience strategy

What you will bring:
  • Strategic: Understands the big picture, crafts clear strategic plans, and helps connect the dots for senior leadership and initiative owners
  • Marketplaces: 8-10yrs+ in consumer marketplaces, including a deep understanding of the key growth drivers
  • Analytical: 7-10yrs+ of defining and conducting quant and qual research to understand optimize customer experiences and outcomes
  • Customer Centricity: Acts as the customer, seeks to understand product & competitive landscape through the eyes of buyers (& sellers)
  • Communication: Mastery of influencing others through clear and compelling written and verbal comms
  • Driven: Operates with urgency, an intrinsic focus on making impact, and a sense of extreme ownership (especially when there is ambiguity)
  • Collaborative: Proven ability to partner effectively across a matrix, including driving change thru alignment and influence
  • Excellence: Track record of professional success; prefer experience at top tier management consulting, investment banking, or similar industries

Additional Details

The base pay range for this position is expected in the range below:
$152,000 - $227,500

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.

If hired, employees will be in an "at-will position" and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
