Are you an experienced people services leader with a passion for community advocacy, governance, member support, and organizational excellence? Squamish Nation is seeking a Director, Member Services to join the Nexwnínlhewá7nem Ch'áwch'aw People Services Division.

Reporting to the Executive Director, People Services, the Director, Member Services provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for the Membership, Income Assistance, Member Services, and Elders Centre functions. This role is responsible for guiding policy development, overseeing complex member service cases, ensuring compliance with Squamish Nation Registry Code and related legislation, safeguarding central records, and supporting Nation Members through a broad range of programs and services.

What You'll Do
  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight for the Member Services Department, including Membership, Income Assistance, and Elders Centre functions.
  • Lead the development and implementation of policies, frameworks, and strategies that strengthen member services and support Squamish Nation governance.
  • Oversee complex membership, registry, and member service cases, ensuring decisions are fair, consistent, and aligned with Nation policies and legislation.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to Council, Committees, and senior leadership by providing expert guidance on membership and member services matters.
  • Monitor and interpret legislative and policy developments impacting membership, registry administration, and Indigenous governance.
  • Lead departmental planning, budgeting, reporting, and resource management to achieve strategic and operational goals.
  • Ensure the integrity, security, and stewardship of central records, member information, and Nation statistics.
  • Oversee the administration of Nation Distribution and Trust payments, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and accountability.
  • Direct research, investigations, and case reviews to support informed decision-making on complex member matters.
  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with internal departments, government agencies, legal counsel, and external partners.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team while fostering a culture of accountability, growth, and service excellence.
  • Champion culturally safe, member-centred services that reflect the values, traditions, and priorities of the Skwxwú7mesh Úxwumixw.

What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Social Services, Public Administration, or a related field from a recognized post-secondary institution.
  • Minimum 6 to 7 years of progressively responsible leadership experience in member services, social services, registry administration, or a related field.
  • Experience leading diverse teams, including managers and professional staff, in a complex service environment.
  • Strong knowledge of policy development, governance practices, and program administration.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply legislation, regulatory frameworks, and organizational policies.
  • Experience managing sensitive, complex, and confidential cases requiring sound judgment and discretion.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to assess complex information and provide recommendations.
  • Exceptional communication, facilitation, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience working with large-scale database systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • High level of emotional intelligence, professionalism, integrity, and accountability.
  • Experience working within or alongside First Nations communities, organizations, or governments is strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Skwxwú7mesh Úxwumixw history, culture, customs, land, and People is preferred.

Salary: $138,507 - $221,612

Candidates are typically offered compensation between the beginning to the midpoint of the range. We are committed to providing a fair and equitable package that reflects the value an individual brings to the organization.
