Full Job Description
We are seeking a Medical Director to join our Medical Services Team - a strategic, forward-thinking Director who can blend professional skills with purpose-driven passion.

Your Impact

As our Director, Medical Services, you'll be an integral part of Ashley's Leadership Team - ensuring that every dollar supports our mission of recovery, renewal, and hope. You'll:

  • Patient assessment and treatment, medical reviews, medical documentation, patient education.
  • Oversee the development, implementation and evaluation of medical services, including nursing services throughout the Ashley continuum.
  • Meet assigned responsibility and outcomes for accreditation bodies, i.e. Maryland Department of Health and The Joint Commission.
  • Assist staff in use of approved quality/performance improvement processes. Serve as an advocate for the integration of research results, both internal and external as a means of improving organizational practice and process.
  • Collaborate with other leaders throughout the Ashley Continuum to ensure coordinated delivery of services; interface with the Clinical, Business Development, Finance, and Intake departments.
  • In partnership with Human Resources, will be responsible for the overall success in talent management: sourcing, acquiring, assessing, developing (on boarding; training in adult learning; leadership development) and retaining staff.
  • Complete performance appraisals on all direct reports.
  • Assist in the development, execution and ongoing monitoring of operational budgets and facility performance objectives.
  • Medical Department Activities - Attends Medical Staff meetings and daily Medical Rounds. Represents the Medical and Nursing Staff in clinical team meetings as assigned. Represents Ashley at outside events as needed. Assists with special Medical Staff projects as needed.
  • Provides professional medical and technical expertise, as needed, to non-physician providers for all medical and addiction related issues
  • Reviews the charts of high risk and medically complex patients prior to admission to assess their appropriateness for admission
  • Provides Medical supervision and technical oversight to all non-physician medical providers


What You Bring

  • Physician (MD or DO) - Licensed in Maryland
  • Board Certified through the American Board of Medical Specialties
  • Maryland CDS License and DEA License obsolete requirement
  • Experience with electronic medical records
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • Flexibility and good negotiation skills
  • Current BLS Certification
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and Adobe Reader (Preferred)
  • Prior experience in Addiction Medicine this is requirement for a medical director
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Aware of, and sensitive to, how race, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, and economic status influence behavioral health and recovery
