Full Job Description
About the role

The Director, Market AccessStrategy will provide strategic market access leadership across client accounts. This individual will translate complex payer, provider, trade, and patient access dynamics into actionable strategies that support brands throughout their lifecycles-from prelaunch and launch through maturity, biosimilar competition, and loss of exclusivity.

The Director will serve as a trusted strategic partner to clients and internal teams, bringing deep knowledge of the evolving access landscape to brand planning, customer engagement, and communications. The role requires a strong combination of market access expertise, client leadership, strategic thinking, and cross-functional collaboration.

What you'll do

  • Lead the development of market access strategies that align with client brand objectives, business needs, and evolving marketplace dynamics.
  • Provide strategic guidance across the product lifecycle, including prelaunch, launch, in-line brands, biosimilar competition, and loss-of-exclusivity planning.
  • Serve as a trusted market access partner to clients, leading payer strategy discussions and translating complex access challenges into actionable recommendations.
  • Monitor payer, provider, trade, reimbursement, policy, competitive, and patient-support developments to anticipate marketplace changes, identify emerging access barriers, and recommend strategic responses.
  • Apply knowledge of formulary management, utilization management, specialty pharmacy, pharmacy and medical benefits, distribution, HUB services, and patient support programs to client initiatives.
  • Partner with account leadership to establish goals, scopes, timelines, and budgets while mobilizing agency resources to deliver high-quality, cost-effective solutions.
  • Lead stakeholder interviews, payer advisory boards, client workshops, and competitive simulations; synthesize findings into clear insights and strategic recommendations.
  • Develop and present market access education, training, and thought leadership for clients and internal teams.
  • Collaborate with account, creative, medical, analytics, and other agency disciplines to ensure market access strategy is reflected accurately and effectively across deliverables.
  • Build strong client relationships, manage competing priorities, and ensure work is completed accurately, on time, and within budget.
  • Coach and mentor junior team members while promoting collaboration, accountability, curiosity, and strategic thinking.
  • Support agency growth through research, proposal development, new business presentations, organic growth initiatives, and the continued advancement of RevHealth's market access capabilities.
  • Develop payer-informed treatment landscapes by integrating clinical pathways, competitive dynamics, coverage and utilization-management policies, reimbursement considerations, and stakeholder behaviors; identify and access relevant secondary and primary data sources to generate insights that inform market access strategy and client recommendations.
  • Lead institutional and hospital access strategy, including understanding how products are evaluated, approved, funded, reimbursed, and operationalized through health-system formulary and P&T processes, inpatient payment systems, medical-benefit pathways, coding, billing, and site-of-care requirements; develop strategies that support product availability, appropriate reimbursement, and seamless transitions of care for patients who initiate therapy in the hospital and continue treatment after discharge.
  • Evidence strategy and value communication, including payer value propositions, AMCP dossiers, budget-impact models, and evidence-gap identification.
  • Market access research and analytics, including claims, formulary, lives, pathway, policy, and reimbursement data.
  • Pull-through strategy that translates national or health-system access into action at the account, provider, and patient levels.
  • Measurement frameworks for evaluating the impact of market access strategies and programs.

Requirements

  • At least 8 years of relevant experience in pharmaceutical marketing, market access, managed markets, payer strategy, or healthcare consulting.
  • At least 3 years of direct market access strategy experience.
  • Pharmaceutical or healthcare agency or consulting experience.
  • Demonstrated experience leading client relationships and advising senior client stakeholders.
  • Experience supporting pharmaceutical brand launches and lifecycle planning.
  • Experience planning and facilitating advisory boards, stakeholder research, workshops, or competitive simulations.
  • Strong knowledge of payer, trade, reimbursement, HUB, and patient support dynamics.
  • Experience with formulary management, Pharmacy and Therapeutics committees, pharmacy benefit managers, health plans, integrated delivery networks, health systems, specialty pharmacy, or organized provider customers is highly valued.
  • Experience with specialty pharmaceuticals across the pharmacy and medical benefits-including oncology, rare disease, or other complex products-is preferred.
