  • Establish feedback mechanisms to gauge driver sentiment and track initiative effectiveness.
  • Coordinate driver Roundtable sessions to foster engagement and communication.
  • Analyze KPIs to inform operational improvements and maintain performance standards.

Full Job Description
As Director of Linehaul, you'll get to lead the strategy, execution, and optimization of Roadrunner's linehaul network while helping shape how freight moves across North America.

1. Lead and Optimize the Linehaul Network
  • Oversee daily linehaul operations across the network
  • Drive routing optimization and operational efficiency
  • Ensure freight moves safely, on schedule, and cost-effectively
  • Improve utilization, service performance, and network productivity

2. Improve Driver Experience and Engagement
  • Monitor driver utilization, settlements, mileage, and home time
  • Develop strategies that improve driver satisfaction and retention
  • Strengthen communication between Roadrunner and the driver network
  • Partner with Marketing on engagement initiatives and driver feedback programs

3. Use Data to Drive Smarter Operations
  • Analyze KPIs including CPOV, load density, cost per mile, and on-time performance
  • Identify operational trends, gaps, and capacity opportunities
  • Support smarter planning through operational and financial analysis
  • Evaluate staffing and operational needs across the network

4. Build Better Systems and Processes
  • Develop scalable operational processes and SOPs
  • Support automation and modernization initiatives
  • Improve alignment between Linehaul, Operations, Sales, and Leadership
  • Foster a culture centered on accountability, execution, and continuous improvement

5. Influence business performance at scale
  • Partner with senior leadership to align linehaul strategy with company growth objectives
  • Translate network performance into measurable business outcomes (margin, service, retention)
  • Act as a key operator in scaling Roadrunner's differentiated metro-to-metro model
  • Drive disciplined execution in a high-growth, performance-driven environment


What you bring
  • 4+ years of relevant operational leadership experience or Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Strong background in transportation, linehaul, LTL, logistics, or network operations
  • Proven ability to lead high-performing operational teams
  • Strong understanding of linehaul optimization, driver utilization, and operational execution
  • Analytical mindset with strong financial and problem-solving capabilities
  • Experience working cross-functionally with executive leadership and operational teams
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Advanced Excel and data analysis capabilities
  • Experience with Power BI and operational reporting tools preferred
  • Ability to travel occasionally and support off-hours operations when needed
  • Bonus qualifications

Compensation & Setup
  • $110,000-$120,000 base salary
  • Onsite - Downers Grove, IL
  • Full benefits package including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), and paid time off
