Position Summary:

YUHSB is seeking a passionate and dedicated Director of the high school Learning Center to join our faculty. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in special education and a commitment to fostering student growth while continuously evaluating the efficacy of the program and implementing best practices in education. This role requires the ability to support students in the learning center.

Position Responsibilities:

The Director of the Learning Center will:

  • Manage the workflow to organize and prepare teacher reports for CSE meetings
  • Oversee testing accommodations for students
  • Provide direct academic support for students in specific subject areas
  • Build academic skills through the students' school work
  • Create work plans for the academic success and development of each student in the learning center, and communicate the plan with the parents of each student
  • Provide instruction in study skills and time management
  • Make use of appropriate technology, manipulatives, and websites in order to preview and review material with students
  • Frequently communicate and collaborate with the teachers of the students in the Learning Center in order to instruct and guide them in the best and most appropriate teaching practices for those students
  • Participate in professional development for faculty regarding learning disabilities and providing effective support for all students
  • Periodically provide lunchtime tutorials to the greater student body on study and time management skills
  • Frequently communicate with parents about the development of the students in the Learning Center


Experience & Educational Background:

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Special Education, or a related field (Master's degree preferred)
  • Prior teaching experience at the high school level is preferred

Salary Range:

$95,000 - $110,000
