Position Summary: Assists the VP of Human Resources in overseeing all aspects of Human Resources including labor relations, recruitment and retention, training and development, benefits administration and team member engagement.

Salary Range: $120,000-$150,000

Essential Job Functions:

  • Acts as a strategic business partner with senior management on all human resources related issues
  • Develops and coordinates training and development programs that meet the needs of the organization as they relate to legal compliance, performance improvement, guest service and satisfaction and employee professional growth and development
  • Establishes recruitment, selection and promotional programs that support diversity and inclusion in the workforce; ensuring that the organization is staffed with well-trained diverse employees
  • Collaborates with department leaders to identify trends and issues within business groups, conducts climate assessments, develops recommendations, and coaches leaders on implementing action plans to address identified issues
  • Establishes employee relations programs that support the retention of competent, solid performing associates and development of programs that coach, counsel associates in a fair and respectful manner
  • Acts as subject matter expert on application, interpretation and intent and terms of collective bargaining agreement including mediation, arbitration, and fact finding; providing advice and counsel to department leaders and human resources personnel; investigating conduct, behavior, and performance issues in coordination with department leaders
  • Investigates and evaluates union complaints to determine viability
  • Primary contact for the property for grievance process
  • Works with department leaders to resolve team member relations issues from intake through research, investigation, tracking, documentation, resolution and follow-up
  • Provides advice and counsel in accordance with labor agreement and policies and procedures to leaders when sought out to assist with sensitive employee situations, including performance management and disciplinary actions, including terminations
  • Proactively develops and implements key Human Resources initiatives and designs and develops policies, programs and trainings to ensure a positive and inclusive work environment that engages team members and drives operational excellence
  • Develops and coordinates training and development programs on all topics related to labor relations as well as programs to improve employee morale and satisfaction
  • Prepares all required reports for management and union leadership teams
  • Monitors company or workforce adherence to labor agreement
  • Mediates discussions between the casino and team member including proposing solutions to reconcile differences
  • Ensures compliance with all local, state, and federal employment laws and regulatory guidelines to ensure the uniform and equitable treatment of all team members
  • Collaborates with department leaders to identify trends and issues within business groups, conducts climate assessments, develops recommendations, and coaches leaders on implementing action plans to address identified issue
  • Conducts team member feedback sessions to monitor workplace satisfaction and to provide feedback to senior management regarding process improvement
  • Reviews and approves all suspensions and terminations
  • Regularly communicates with VP of Human Resources on complex or high-risk issues
  • Hires, trains and manages staff in accordance with organizational and departmental policies and programs
  • Supervises direct reports and provides coaching and feedback as necessary
  • Must effectively work in a fast-paced environment
  • Performs all other duties as assigned


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Minimum of 4 years in Employee Relations at a management level, preferably in the hospitality or gaming industry
  • Thorough understanding of human resources and labor relations principles, practices and procedures
  • Superior investigative skills and past experience handling complex and sensitive employee relations issues
  • Experience and knowledge in employment laws, legal compliance requirements, HR trends, and newly-surfacing litigation areas
  • Excellent management skills
  • Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with team members, officials, directors and other stakeholders
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Familiar with employee benefits including health insurance, 401k, disability, FMLA, COBRA, and other work-related benefits
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to compile, research and analyze information
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
  • Excellent computer skills, including knowledge of Google Suites
  • Ability to work flexible shifts and day of the week including holidays
  • Ability to obtain and maintain all necessary licensing and successfully complete the pre-employment process


Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed both in an office and on the casino floor in a smoke-free environment with frequent walking, standing and prolonged periods of sitting a desk and working on a computer
  • Regularly required to see, walk, talk and hear; use hands to finger, handle, feel and reach with hands and arms
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at a time
