Full Job Description
JOB SUMMARY
The Director, Human Resources (HR) Business Support will be an experienced HR professional with deep knowledge of all matters concerning HR departments and possess a strong relationship and operational focus on building, operating and continuous improvement of delivering exceptional HR consultation and solutions to all variety of issues, needs and strategy for the business vertical supported. This role is an HR ambassador, leader and connection point for all leadership and colleagues within the business they support, and they provide world-class customer service, partnership, and collaboration on a daily basis to all they serve.

As an integral member of the leadership team, the preferred candidate will need to be onsite.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

Required
  • Education
    Bachelor's Degree in human resources, business administration, or any other related field.
  • Experience
    10 years progressively responsible Human Resources generalist experience, including a minimum of five (5) years prior related HR generalist leadership or HR Business Partner role experience. and
    Prior experience working with Executive/Senior level leadership required. and
    Extensive knowledge of overall HR and the specific to HR business partner function and department processes required.
Preferred
  • Education
    Master's Degree in business focus or Human Resources preferred.
  • Experience
    Prior experience in healthcare and/or academia preferred.
JOB DUTIES
  • Partners with all other HR leadership and colleagues as well as all leadership within the business vertical in the development, implementation, and success of both short and long-term strategies.
  • Provide HR assistance, support and advice to assigned business vertical on various HR related issues and needs that arise with a focus on ensuring the flawless execution of human resources practices.
  • Key collaborator with the business to ensure focus on HR results and outcomes of the business through support of overall HR function. Understands the business's strategy and goals and can translate those goals into actionable HR objectives in support of the business strategy.
  • Ensures that there is consistent application, implementation, and operation of related HR strategies, programs, and UTSW policies at all levels and departments within the business vertical.
  • Serves as a partner, coach and consultant to the business's leaders as well as other employees on key organizational and management matters. Is always available as a first contact resource to ensure needed collaboration with the functional HR leader/department to assist and consult and then support and work as needed on finding the solution needed.
  • Partners with overall HR functional areas to lead the implementation of HR programs, policies and processes for assigned business vertical including, but not limited to, resource planning, talent acquisition, onboarding, performance management, total rewards, colleague engagement, leadership assessments and succession planning, and payroll.
  • Understands and supports the organization's efforts to develop, implement and track for success in strategies and processes to promote collaboration and participation in the workplace.
  • Provides overall prioritization of work assignments and management for functional team resources and their activities within the assigned business vertical.
  • Builds and maintains a strong functional team through effective recruiting, training, coaching, team building and succession planning.
  • Provides connection to bring HR needs, programs and future development specific to assigned business vertical that will require resources to ensure comprehensiveness in both the business and HR's budget planning process as appropriate, followed by tracking accuracy in operating to the current budget to ensure good stewardship.
  • Designs and utilizes appropriate and related HR analytics focused on specific workforce insights and analytics related to the business vertical in order to focus the business's leaders on relevant people management issues while assessing potential strategies and solutions. In this capacity, also conducts research and data analytics that identify talent gaps, assesses organizational performance, and proposes solutions that are in support of the business and that are in promotion of ongoing talent, development plans, and succession.
  • Works in partnership with HR Information Services and other HR resources needed, develops, implements and provides on a regular periodic interval strategic data and qualitative narrative reports and recommendations based on the data analytics for the business vertical's senior management, department, functional management and HR leadership.
  • Provides and maintains a superior level of technical HR skill, knowledge, and expertise, including legal knowledge and the latest trends and best practices. Works to ensure understanding of current industry and business factors related to business vertical assigned to shape how ongoing related HR strategies are developed, implemented, and sustained; in addition to maintaining an understanding of the business, market influencers, and finances in order to add personal credibility and ability to influence leadership and management to add value to the business's success.
