Full Job Description
About the role...

We're looking for a Director of Growth Marketing Strategy to help shape and drive the agenda for how Duolingo identifies, tests, and scales new growth initiatives worldwide. You'll partner across Growth, Performance Marketing, Product Marketing, Analytics, and international teams to shape growth strategy for acquisition and reactivation, act as a senior thought partner to marketing leadership, and develop the frameworks that country and cross-functional teams can use to size, pressure-test, and scale their bets. You'll also manage a small team that grows as the function does. This is a role for someone who can operate from vision down to the numbers, hold a high bar on rigor, and help turn a portfolio of experiments into a coherent global growth story.

A core part of this role is partnering with country marketing managers across our priority markets, helping them sharpen the growth case behind their campaigns and connecting local initiatives to global DAU and new-user outcomes.

You will...
  • Help shape and evolve Duolingo's global growth strategy across acquisition and reactivation, and make the case for where investment should and shouldn't go.
  • Develop and steward the frameworks for how growth initiatives are sized, measured, and reviewed, in partnership with analytics and marketing teams, including budget-allocation approaches, KPI and attribution methodology, and clear go/no-go and kill criteria.
  • Partner with country marketing managers to help pressure-test the growth case behind their proposals, working toward alignment on goals, budget sizing, and measurement before investment is committed.
  • Build the entry strategy for a new market and work alongside the country team to help stand up the launch, from first plan to early results.
  • Help run the forum where growth cases get pressure-tested, giving country and cross-functional teams early input, a rigorous validity check before launch, and honest read-outs of what worked and what didn't.
  • Manage and develop a small team, growing it as the function scales.
  • Turn cross-market results into cross-market learnings, surfacing patterns and feeding them back into planning cycles.
  • Serve as a senior translator between data and marketing leadership, delivering crisp recommendations and portfolio-level updates that inform investment decisions.
  • Support a high analytical bar across the growth function, mentoring your report and partners toward sharper problem framing, cleaner measurement, and more credible forecasts.

You have...
  • 8+ years in strategic consulting, consumer strategy, growth marketing, or a related function, including experience shaping growth strategy for a consumer brand at scale.
  • A track record of driving growth strategy and contributing to measurable outcomes, not just executing individual projects.
  • Experience managing or developing people, or a clear readiness to take on a first report.
  • Deep analytical judgment; fluent in experimentation, KPI and attribution design, incrementality, and structured problem solving, with the skepticism to separate correlation from causation and real signal from a good narrative.
  • Demonstrated success collaborating with and influencing senior cross-functional and international partners.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, with a track record of clear, decision-ready recommendations to marketing leadership.
  • The ability to move fluidly between long-range strategy and hands-on detail in a fast-moving environment.

☆ Exceptional candidates will have...
  • Experience managing a team, or building the processes a growing team runs on.
  • Prior experience at a top-tier consulting firm.
  • SQL proficiency or advanced analytics capabilities.
  • Experience driving growth across multiple international markets.
  • Passion for Duolingo's mission to develop the best education in the world and make it universally available.
