Full Job Description
The Director, Global Transaction Banking (GTB) - Strategy, Analytics & Client Solutions plays a critical leadership role in shaping and executing the GTB strategy within National Bank of Canada Capital Markets. As a trusted advisor to GTB leadership, Coverage teams, and key partners across the Bank, you will translate strategic priorities into measurable client, revenue, deposit, and franchise outcomes.

Leveraging analytics, market intelligence, industry expertise, and client insights, you will identify opportunities, define priorities, and lead high-impact initiatives that strengthen the franchise and accelerate growth. You will transform business objectives and funding priorities into actionable solutions that enhance profitability, deepen client relationships, and expand transaction banking capabilities.

Working across Capital Markets, Commercial Banking, Treasury, Finance, Risk, Product, and Technology, you will drive data-informed decision-making through portfolio analytics, pricing, client segmentation, sales enablement, and performance management. Your ability to influence senior stakeholders, align cross-functional teams, and deliver results will be instrumental in advancing the GTB platform and creating long-term value for clients and the Bank.

Your Job

  • Lead the development and execution of GTB priorities and business initiatives, translating strategic objectives into measurable client, revenue, deposit, and franchise outcomes.
  • Develop actionable business plans across clients, products, markets, and distribution channels, ensuring alignment with Capital Markets and broader Bank objectives.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen GTB capabilities, deepen client relationships, increase wallet share, and expand transaction banking and deposit growth.
  • Partner with Coverage teams, senior stakeholders, and clients to originate and advance opportunities across deposits, liquidity solutions, cash management, payments, and transaction banking services.
  • Act as a trusted advisor in key client engagements, providing commercial, market, product, and pricing insights that support relationship growth and client success.
  • Develop and oversee portfolio analytics, client segmentation frameworks, pricing strategies, stress-testing methodologies, and performance reporting to support executive decision-making.
  • Build business cases, market assessments, and data-driven recommendations that inform investment decisions, resource allocation, and business priorities.
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives across Capital Markets, Commercial Banking, Treasury, Finance, Risk, Product, and Technology by aligning stakeholders, establishing governance, and accelerating execution.
  • Support the commercialization of new products, client solutions, and go-to-market strategies while monitoring performance and identifying opportunities to improve client engagement, profitability, and retention.


Your Team

Global Transaction Banking is a strategic growth platform within Capital Markets, delivering deposit, liquidity, cash management, payment, and treasury solutions to corporate clients. The team sits at the intersection of Capital Markets and Corporate & Investment Banking, partnering across the organization to deliver innovative solutions and exceptional client outcomes.

In this role, you will collaborate with specialists across Treasury, Finance, Risk, Product, Technology, Commercial Banking, and Coverage teams in a highly collaborative environment. The team is recognized for its analytical rigor, commercial focus, and ability to deliver complex initiatives across multiple business lines.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in Transaction Banking, Commercial Banking, Capital Markets, Corporate Treasury, Strategy, Corporate Development, Consulting, or a related financial services discipline.
  • Strong understanding of transaction banking products and services, including cash management, liquidity solutions, deposits, and treasury management.
  • Demonstrated success leading large-scale initiatives and driving execution within complex organizations.
  • Strong analytical and commercial acumen, with the ability to translate complex challenges into clear recommendations and actionable plans.
  • Experience leveraging data, analytics, and market insights to influence business decisions and drive measurable outcomes.
  • Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders, build consensus, and operate effectively within a matrix environment.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, project leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
  • This role may be based in Toronto or Montreal. For employees based in Montre9al, French language proficiency, both written and spoken, is required.
  • Experience leading initiatives from strategy through implementation and measurable results.
  • Strong communication skills in both French and English, spoken and written.
