EDUCATION:

Graduation with a Master's degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with a specialization in economics, finance, public administration, international affairs or in a field relevant to the duties of the position.

EXPERIENCE:

EXP1: Significant* experience in the analysis of economic, fiscal, and public policy issues, including forward-looking analysis of evolving economic risks and their implications for policy development and fiscal planning.

EXP2: Significant* experience in economic, financial, policy analysis, including scenario analysis and the assessment of policy options and their potential economic, fiscal and social impacts through advanced economic modelling.

EXP3: Significant* experience in the provision of advice and briefings to Ministers or other senior officials** on issues relating to economic, fiscal and public policy, including federal budgets, fiscal updates, and responses to evolving economic conditions.

EXP4: Experience in managing human and financial resources.

Definitions:

* Significant experience is defined as the depth and breadth of experience normally associated with having performed a broad range of various complex (e.g., multidimensional, sensitive, confidential, affecting many partners or stakeholders, precedent setting, having major impact on the economy or the public service, or having a potential for significant media coverage) related activities.

**Senior official is defined as the Assistant Deputy Minister level (EX-04 or EX-05) or an equivalent executive-level position in private sector.

K1: Knowledge of the Canadian economy, including labour markets, housing markets, inflation, financial conditions, provincial economic and fiscal conditions, commodity markets, and monetary policy developments.

K2: Knowledge of quantitative methods and analytical approaches used in economic and public policy analysis, including scenario analysis, forecasting, program and policy evaluation, and risk assessment.

K3: Knowledge of the global economy and international policy developments, including their implications for Canada's economic growth, competitiveness, and public policy objectives.
