Full Job Description
Who We're Looking For:

Rover is looking for a strategic, commercially-minded, and operationally talented Director of FP&A to support our global growth and marketing businesses. This role is a key member of the Finance team, reporting to the Sr Director of Finance. This isn't just a "numbers" role; you will be the strategic co-pilot to the Chief Global Growth Officer and partnering with senior leadership to drive financial rigor, resource allocation, and long-term value creation. The Director of FP&A will bring both the strategic altitude to shape enterprise financial value creation and the operational discipline to ensure Rover's financial foundation is strong, scalable, and insight-driven.

This is a hybrid position with the minimum expectation to work out of our Downtown Seattle Office two days per week on Mondays and Thursdays. Candidates must be based in the Greater Seattle Area or willing to relocate.

What you'll do:

  • Financial Planning and Analysis: Drive Rover annual planning, forecasting, and long-range financial modeling processes for customer bookings, revenue, and marketing expenses. Translate business strategy into financial plans and provide leadership with the analytical foundation to make high-quality resource and investment decisions.
  • >
  • Business Partnership: Serve as a trusted financial partner to senior business leaders across the marketing organizations. Provide proactive financial insights that sharpen decision-making and improve business outcomes.
  • >
  • Reporting and Performance Management: Prepare high impact materials for both internal and external financial reporting, including Board and investor materials. Ensure leadership has timely, accurate, and actionable visibility into business performance.
  • >
  • Capital Allocation and Investment Analysis: Assist in financial evaluation of strategic investments, new market opportunities, and major business initiatives. Bring a clear point of view on where Rover should and should not deploy capital.
  • >
  • Long Range Planning: Coordinate with Strategy and the rest of the leadership team to review and update on an annual basis.
  • >
  • Team Leadership: Lead and develop a high-performing FP&A team of 3. Set clear expectations, build capability, and create an environment where the team can do their best work.
  • >
  • Cross-Functional Partnership: Work closely with teams to ensure financial strategy is integrated across the business and that operational decisions are made with full financial context.
  • >

Your Qualifications:

  • 8-12+ years of progressive finance experience, with a demonstrated track record in FP&A, business finance, or corporate finance at a growth-stage or public technology company.
  • >
  • At least 3+ years of people management experience, with a track record of developing strong finance talent.
  • >
  • Deep expertise in financial modeling, forecasting, and scenario analysis. Comfort operating in ambiguous, fast-moving environments where the numbers are still being defined.
  • >
  • Exceptional strategic communication skills. Able to translate complex financial data into clear, compelling narratives for Board, C-Suite, and cross-functional audiences.
  • >
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to connect financial outcomes to operational drivers. You think like an operator, not just an analyst.
  • >
  • Experience operating in a two-sided marketplace, platform business, or similarly complex revenue model is a strong plus.
  • >
  • High degree of integrity and sound judgment, particularly in situations involving sensitive financial information or significant business trade-offs.
  • >
  • Highly organized and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • >

Nice to Have:

  • Experience in Private Equity environments
  • >
  • Experience with go public or exit process
  • >
  • Familiarity with international finance, multi-currency reporting, or global business operations.
  • >
  • CPA, CFA, or MBA from a leading program.
  • >
