JOB SUMMARY

The Director of Fleet Operations is responsible for leading and optimizing fleet operations across DuraServ's multi-branch, national service organization. This role develops and executes a comprehensive enterprise fleet strategy encompassing safety performance, asset utilization, total cost of ownership, regulatory compliance, and vendor management. The Director of Fleet Operations leverages telematics, advanced data analytics, and financial planning to deliver measurable business outcomes, and communicates fleet performance and strategy to executive leadership and private equity partners. This position requires a balance of strategic leadership and hands-on execution, with direct supervisory responsibility for the fleet operations team.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  1. Develop and execute the enterprise fleet strategy to support business growth, operational efficiency, and organizational objectives across all locations.
  2. Oversee fleet asset management, including vehicle acquisition, utilization, maintenance, replacement planning, budgeting, and lifecycle optimization.
  3. Lead fleet safety, compliance, and risk management programs to ensure adherence to all regulatory requirements and company standards.
  4. Utilize fleet management systems, telematics, and data analytics to improve performance, reduce costs, and support strategic decision-making.
  5. Establish and maintain standardized fleet policies, processes, and governance practices while driving continuous improvement initiatives.
  6. Manage relationships with fleet vendors and service providers, including contract negotiations, performance management, and cost optimization.
  7. Provide leadership to fleet team members and serve as a strategic partner to operations, finance, and executive leadership by delivering fleet performance reporting, recommendations, and insights.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  1. Comprehensive knowledge of fleet operations, asset lifecycle management, fleet maintenance programs, and vendor management within a multi-location service organization.

PLANNED BUSINESS TRAVEL

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High School diploma or equivalent is required. Associate or bachelor's degree, preferred.
  • 7+ years of progressive fleet operations experience, with demonstrated leadership of large, multi-location fleets (500+ vehicles preferred) in a field service, distribution, or operationally complex environment.
  • Demonstrated experience with fleet strategy development, vendor negotiations, lifecycle planning, budget ownership, and cost optimization across a national or regional fleet.
  • CAFM (Certified Automotive Fleet Manager) or CPFP (Certified Professional Fleet Professional) certification preferred; experience with fleet leasing models (e.g., Enterprise Fleet Management) and EV/alternative fuel planning is a plus.
