Full Job Description
Job Overview:

The Director, Financial Reporting and Technical Accounting is responsible for overseeing the Company's internal and external financial reporting and technical accounting functions, including the preparation, review and filing of the Company's consolidated and stand-alone interim and annual financial statements, periodic SEC reports, and the research and application of complex accounting standards. The Director leads the coordination of the annual external audit and quarterly reviews, oversees the Company's technical accounting positions, supports the Company's Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance program, and ensures compliance with U.S. GAAP, SEC requirements, lender reporting obligations and internal policies.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees the preparation, review and filing of the Company's quarterly and annual SEC filings (Forms 10-Q, 10-K and 8-K), including financial statements, footnote disclosures, MD&A and XBRL, ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP, SEC rules and Regulations S-X and S-K; oversee the issuance of stand-alone financial statements for the Company's joint venture entities.
  • Serves as a primary liaison with the Company's independent auditors, leading quarterly reviews and the annual audit, coordinating audit activities across departments and resolving key accounting and disclosure matters
  • Oversees the preparation and review of monthly and quarterly financial reporting deliverables provided to the Company's lenders, including debt compliance certificates and reporting required under the Company's credit agreements.
  • Leads the preparation of materials that prepare executive leadership (CEO and CFO) for quarterly earnings calls, investor conferences and investor meetings, including earnings press releases, prepared remarks, investor presentations, suggested talking points and anticipated analyst questions.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert on technical accounting matters, overseeing the research, documentation and application of complex accounting guidance including lease accounting (ASC 842), equity-based compensation (ASC 718), business combinations, acquisitions and divestitures (ASC 805 / ASC 810), debt, derivatives and revenue recognition; review technical accounting memoranda and manage related communications with external auditors.
  • Oversees and enhances the Company's Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) program, establishing, implementing and monitoring internal controls and policies over financial reporting.
  • Provides meaningful financial analysis and interpretation of results to Senior and Executive Leadership to support strategic decision making.
  • Provides guidance and technical accounting support to hospital and corporate accounting personnel and advise on the adoption of new accounting standards.
  • Drives process improvements and automation across the financial reporting and technical accounting processes.
  • Performs other duties as needed, including assistance with acquisitions, divestitures, complex transactions and special projects.

  • 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including management experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise researching and applying U.S. GAAP to complex transactions, including leases, equity-based compensation, business combinations, acquisitions and divestitures, and debt
  • Strong working knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) internal control frameworks and public-company reporting environments
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and adapt quickly in a dynamic environment


Preferred Job Requirements:
  • Public accounting experience required; healthcare and public-company corporate experience
  • In-depth knowledge of U.S. GAAP, SEC reporting requirements, Regulations S-X and S-K, non-GAAP reporting and XBRL; experience with a reporting platform (e.g., Workiva
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing deadlines and work efficiently under stress
  • Ability to interpret complex financial information, make decisions and communicate those decisions
  • Strong leadership skills and exceptional written and verbal communication skills
