Full Job Description

This role sits within the Finance Transformation team—SPE’s internal consulting and change-leadership group—and partners closely with senior Finance, Technology, and Business leaders across Motion Pictures, Television, Networks, Corporate Functions, Development, Marketing, and Distribution.

The Director will own a portfolio of complex transformation initiatives, drive strategic decision-making, and ensure delivery of measurable business value. This role requires a blend of financial expertise, strategic thinking, executive presence, hands-on project management, and both staff and thought leadership.

This role requires strong technology aptitude and comfort operating in system- and data-enabled environments that support modern finance operations.

The role offers significant exposure to senior leadership and the opportunity to shape the future of Finance at Sony Pictures Entertainment.

Key Responsibilities
Finance Transformation Leadership
  • Lead and manage end-to-end finance transformation initiatives—including operating model design, process optimization, and system- and data-enabled change—driving delivery through disciplined project management, structured governance, and proactive change leadership.
  • Engage and collaborate comfortably with stakeholders across Finance, Technology, and the business—from Analysts through the CFO—to map key systems and end-to-end processes, manage ambiguity, identify opportunities and root causes of inefficiencies, and distill this information to drive alignment on prioritized initiatives. Key activities and skills include: problem statements, Process Maps, Gap Analyses, RACI, RAID Logs, Timelines,  etc.
  • Create and present executive communications with clear narrative, opportunity/problem statements, decision options with cost, benefits, and risks, and compelling recommendations. Identify opportunities for process optimization and technology enablement, including analytics, intelligent automation, and emerging AI-enabled tools where appropriate.
  • Own and direct delivery of multiple, concurrent initiatives, ensuring clear objectives, timelines, governance, and measurable outcomes while optimizing work processes and managing cross-team dynamics.
  • Proactively develop and recommend future-state designs, including process, operating model, and system changes, leveraging analytics, automation, and emerging capabilities where appropriate. Communicate relevant transformation roadmaps, business cases, and value realization plans using structured, Minto Memo–style logic.

Governance, Risk & Change Management
  • Identify risks, dependencies, and change impacts, including data integrity and system-related considerations; proactively manage mitigation strategies.
  • Perform ongoing and post-mortem project evaluation to measure performance and value creation, including benefit analysis/other KPIs.
  • Guide adoption and change management efforts to ensure sustainable implementation and reinforce new ways of working.

Leadership & Capability Development
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to Finance leadership, providing insights and recommendations on process, systems, and emerging capabilities that enhance finance performance.
  • Coach and mentor analysts and managers, fostering strong analytical rigor, collaboration, and encouraging thoughtful adoption of technology-enabled approaches within Finance Transformation initiatives.
  • Support the Office of the CFO on enterprise-wide strategic initiatives and executive-level communications.

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, economics, analytics, or related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in finance, consulting, or transformation roles, with demonstrated leadership responsibility.
  • Proven experience leading complex, cross-functional initiatives in a matrixed organization.
  • Strong understanding of financial planning, accounting, reporting, and analytics processes and systems.
  • Experience working within SAP-based finance environments (e.g., S/4HANA) strongly preferred, including familiarity with how analytics, automation, or AI-enabled tools integrate with core ERP systems.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing or supporting automation or AI-enabled initiatives within finance organizations is strongly preferred.
  • Exceptional executive communication skills, including the ability to synthesize complex topics and influence senior stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to build business cases, evaluate tradeoffs, and drive data-informed decisions.
  • Strong project and change management capabilities, Agile or structured transformation experience a plus.
  • High level of judgment, accountability, and ability to operate effectively in ambiguous environments.
  • Collaborative leadership style with a track record of developing high-performing teams.

The anticipated base salary for this position is $160,000-$180,000. This role may also qualify for annual incentive and/or comprehensive benefits.
