OpportunityThe Director - Finance, Legal Consolidation & Audit leads Kohler Co.'s global legal consolidation, external audit coordination, and financial reporting processes. The role is responsible for ensuring timely, accurate, and GAAP-compliant consolidated financial results, maintaining strong internal controls, supporting enterprise reporting consistency, and driving continuous improvement across the global close and consolidation environment.
The Director serves as a key Finance leader partnering with Controllers, Regional Finance teams, Tax, Treasury, Internal Audit, and Information Technology to support financial integrity, reporting quality, and audit readiness across Kohler Co. The role provides enterprise-wide coordination and leadership for consolidation and reporting activities while developing a high-performing team and maintaining the highest standards of integrity, transparency, and accountability.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIESFinancial Reporting & Consolidation
- Lead Kohler Co.'s global legal consolidation process, ensuring accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.
- Ensure compliance with US GAAP (both monitoring and implementation of new guidance), tax, legal, and internal reporting requirements.
- Maintain and oversee Kohler Co.'s chart of accounts and legal reporting structures to support consistent financial reporting across all entities.
- Coordinate global close activities and reporting submissions across regions, business units, and legal entities.
- Support the preparation and review of consolidated financial statements and related reporting requirements.
Audit & Controls
- Serve as the primary day-to-day liaison with external auditors and coordinate annual audit activities.
- Maintain a disciplined balance sheet reconciliation process and drive resolution of reconciling items.
- Monitor key reserves and balance sheet accounts, providing analysis and recommendations to management.
- Maintain and strengthen internal controls supporting financial reporting and consolidation processes.
- Coordinate remediation activities for audit observations and control deficiencies.
- Coordinate statutory audits for foreign entities.
- Create, monitor and enforce Financial Policies.
Enterprise Partnership
- Partner with Corporate Finance, Controllers, Tax, Treasury, FP&A, GSS, Internal Audit, HR, Legal and IT to support accurate financial reporting and business decision-making.
- Support enterprise consistency in accounting treatment, reporting standards, and financial processes.
- Provide practical financial guidance and analysis related to reporting, consolidation, and accounting matters.
- Participate in enterprise initiatives impacting financial reporting, close processes, systems, and controls.
Process Improvement
- Drive continuous improvement in close, consolidation, audit, and reporting processes.
- Identify opportunities for automation, simplification, and improved productivity.
- Promote standardization and adoption of best practices across regions and reporting teams.
- Monitor performance metrics supporting close effectiveness, audit outcomes, and reporting quality.
- Talent Leadership
- Lead and develop consolidation and reporting teams through coaching, knowledge transfer, feedback, and development planning.
- Build technical accounting, reporting, and audit capabilities across the organization.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and professional growth.
Skills/Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
- MBA and/or CPA strongly preferred.
- Significant progressive Finance, Accounting, Consolidation, External Reporting, Audit, or Controllership experience required, including demonstrated experience leading complex close, consolidation, audit, and reporting processes in a global or multi-entity environment.
- Prior leadership experience developing teams, leaders, and technical talent across regions or functions strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of US GAAP, internal controls, external audit processes, balance sheet governance, legal entity reporting, and enterprise financial systems required.

The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate's experience, their education, and the work location. In addition, this position is eligible for a performance bonus/variable incentive compensation.
