Full Job Description
The Role
The Director of Facilities Operations will own the end-to-end physical infrastructure lifecycle across Crusoe's growing portfolio of AI factory sites - from the 352,000 sq ft Spark Factory manufacturing campus in Brighton, Colorado to hyperscale data center campuses in multiple geographies. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who thrives at the intersection of mission-critical operations, rapid growth, and complex energy systems.
You'll report to senior operations leadership and work cross-functionally with Real Estate, Engineering, EH&S, IT, Finance, and external construction partners to ensure every Crusoe facility runs safely, efficiently, and at the reliability levels our customers depend on.

What You'll Own

Facilities Strategy & Portfolio Management
  • Develop and execute a multi-year facilities roadmap aligned to Crusoe's data center expansion and manufacturing scale-up plans
  • Manage a geographically distributed portfolio of sites including hyperscale campuses, manufacturing facilities, and corporate offices
  • Lead site selection due diligence, space planning, and build-out oversight for new facilities in partnership with Real Estate and Construction

Operations & Reliability
  • Set and enforce uptime, maintenance, and service-level standards across all Crusoe-operated facilities
  • Own critical systems management including power distribution, cooling (HVAC/liquid cooling), UPS, generators, fire suppression, and building management systems (BMS)
  • Drive preventive and predictive maintenance programs that minimize unplanned downtime at mission-critical sites

Energy & Sustainability
  • Partner with Crusoe's energy team to integrate on-site generation assets (natural gas, battery storage, renewable sources) into facilities operations
  • Track and report on energy consumption, PUE, and sustainability KPIs across the portfolio; identify efficiency improvements
  • Support Crusoe's ESG commitments and contribute to ongoing ESG reporting

Team Leadership
  • Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing facilities team including regional managers, site leads, and contracted services
  • Establish clear accountability structures, on-call protocols, and escalation paths for 24/7 operations
  • Source, negotiate, and manage relationships with vendors, contractors, and managed service providers

Capital & Budget Management
  • Own the facilities OpEx and CapEx budgets; develop annual plans and multi-year forecasts
  • Lead RFP processes for major facilities projects and oversee execution against scope, schedule, and budget
  • Partner with Finance on cost modeling for new sites and lease/own analyses

Compliance & Safety
  • Ensure all facilities meet applicable building codes, fire codes, OSHA regulations, and environmental requirements
  • Oversee EH&S programs and incident response procedures across sites
  • Maintain documentation, certifications, and audit readiness (SOC 2, ISO, NFPA, etc.)

What We're Looking For

Required
  • 10+ years of facilities management experience, with at least 5 years leading facilities operations for mission-critical environments (data centers, manufacturing, or similar)
  • Deep knowledge of critical infrastructure systems: power (medium/high voltage, UPS, generators), cooling (CRAC/CRAH, chillers, liquid cooling), and fire/life safety
  • Experience managing multi-site portfolios across multiple geographies
  • Track record of building and leading high-accountability facilities teams
  • Strong financial acumen - experience owning OpEx/CapEx budgets in the $10M+ range
  • Excellent cross-functional communication skills; able to engage equally well with engineers, executives, and field technicians

Preferred
  • Experience with hyperscale or colocation data center operations
  • Familiarity with non-traditional energy environments (natural gas generation, battery storage, renewables)
  • Background in manufacturing or industrial facilities operations
  • Certified Facility Manager (CFM), Data Center Design Consultant (CDCDP), or equivalent credentials
  • Experience supporting rapid organizational scaling (Series C through IPO stages)

Benefits:
  • Competitive compensation and equity packages
  • Restricted Stock Units
  • Paid time off, paid holidays & leave of absence programs
  • Comprehensive health, dental & vision insurance
  • Employer contributions to HSA account
  • Paid parental leave
  • Paid life insurance, short-term and long-term disability
  • Professional development & tuition reimbursement
  • Mental health & wellness support
  • Commuter benefits (parking & transit)
  • Cell phone stipend
  • 401(k) Retirement plan with company match up to 4% of salary
  • Volunteer time off
  • Global travel insurance & emergency assistance
  • Daily meals allowance
  • Additional perks & programs specific to location

Compensation Range
