The RoleThe Director of Facilities Operations will own the end-to-end physical infrastructure lifecycle across Crusoe's growing portfolio of AI factory sites - from the 352,000 sq ft Spark Factory manufacturing campus in Brighton, Colorado to hyperscale data center campuses in multiple geographies. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who thrives at the intersection of mission-critical operations, rapid growth, and complex energy systems.
You'll report to senior operations leadership and work cross-functionally with Real Estate, Engineering, EH&S, IT, Finance, and external construction partners to ensure every Crusoe facility runs safely, efficiently, and at the reliability levels our customers depend on.
What You'll OwnFacilities Strategy & Portfolio Management- Develop and execute a multi-year facilities roadmap aligned to Crusoe's data center expansion and manufacturing scale-up plans
- Manage a geographically distributed portfolio of sites including hyperscale campuses, manufacturing facilities, and corporate offices
- Lead site selection due diligence, space planning, and build-out oversight for new facilities in partnership with Real Estate and Construction
Operations & Reliability- Set and enforce uptime, maintenance, and service-level standards across all Crusoe-operated facilities
- Own critical systems management including power distribution, cooling (HVAC/liquid cooling), UPS, generators, fire suppression, and building management systems (BMS)
- Drive preventive and predictive maintenance programs that minimize unplanned downtime at mission-critical sites
Energy & Sustainability- Partner with Crusoe's energy team to integrate on-site generation assets (natural gas, battery storage, renewable sources) into facilities operations
- Track and report on energy consumption, PUE, and sustainability KPIs across the portfolio; identify efficiency improvements
- Support Crusoe's ESG commitments and contribute to ongoing ESG reporting
Team Leadership- Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing facilities team including regional managers, site leads, and contracted services
- Establish clear accountability structures, on-call protocols, and escalation paths for 24/7 operations
- Source, negotiate, and manage relationships with vendors, contractors, and managed service providers
Capital & Budget Management- Own the facilities OpEx and CapEx budgets; develop annual plans and multi-year forecasts
- Lead RFP processes for major facilities projects and oversee execution against scope, schedule, and budget
- Partner with Finance on cost modeling for new sites and lease/own analyses
Compliance & Safety- Ensure all facilities meet applicable building codes, fire codes, OSHA regulations, and environmental requirements
- Oversee EH&S programs and incident response procedures across sites
- Maintain documentation, certifications, and audit readiness (SOC 2, ISO, NFPA, etc.)
What We're Looking ForRequired- 10+ years of facilities management experience, with at least 5 years leading facilities operations for mission-critical environments (data centers, manufacturing, or similar)
- Deep knowledge of critical infrastructure systems: power (medium/high voltage, UPS, generators), cooling (CRAC/CRAH, chillers, liquid cooling), and fire/life safety
- Experience managing multi-site portfolios across multiple geographies
- Track record of building and leading high-accountability facilities teams
- Strong financial acumen - experience owning OpEx/CapEx budgets in the $10M+ range
- Excellent cross-functional communication skills; able to engage equally well with engineers, executives, and field technicians
Preferred- Experience with hyperscale or colocation data center operations
- Familiarity with non-traditional energy environments (natural gas generation, battery storage, renewables)
- Background in manufacturing or industrial facilities operations
- Certified Facility Manager (CFM), Data Center Design Consultant (CDCDP), or equivalent credentials
- Experience supporting rapid organizational scaling (Series C through IPO stages)

Compensation RangeCompensation will be paid in the range of up to $200,000 -$235,000 + Bonus. Restricted Stock Units are included in all offers. Compensation to be determined by the applicants knowledge, education, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
