Director, External Manufacturing

What you will do

The External Manufacturing Director will lead the deployment of best practices, standardization, and continuous improvement initiatives across the North America External Manufacturing (EM) network supporting Skin and Essential Health products. This role will lead a team of 4 to 6 professionals responsible for supporting clusters of external manufacturing sites that produce more than 230 million units annually across a diverse portfolio, including wipes, washes, lotions, creams, aerosols, portables, and other product formats. The Director will partner closely with key internal stakeholders across Procurement, Planning, Quality, and Network Strategy to define and execute the EM operating strategy while building sustainable organizational capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver reliable supply, productivity and cost savings, and superior product quality to enable long-term business growth through strong influence, collaboration, and relationship management across the EM network
  • Lead and oversee strategic External Manufacturing initiatives, including new site start-ups, network transfers, footprint optimization projects, and new product launches across the North America EM network.
  • Lead a team responsible for developing and executing both short- and long-term solutions that support business growth, customer service, regulatory compliance, operational excellence, and cost optimization objectives.
  • Leverage a deep understanding of the EM network, consumer supply chain operations, financial drivers, manufacturing processes, and capacity management to identify and remove constraints, optimize network performance, and improve service, quality, and cost outcomes.
  • Define, scope, and prioritize strategic projects; evaluate business benefits and organizational impact; secure stakeholder alignment; manage budgets; and oversee execution to ensure successful delivery and value realization.
  • Attract, develop, coach, and retain high-performing talent while fostering an inclusive, engaged, and results-oriented team culture.


Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a Bachelors' degree is required.
  • At least 10 years of business experience is required, with experience in manufacturing, operations management, or supply chain required. Prior experience in internal/external manufacturing is required.
  • Demonstrated experience and success in people development and building high performing teams is required. Experience managing direct reports required.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in establishing and maintaining meaningful relationships with internal and external business partners to meet strategic business needs is required.
  • The successful candidate must demonstrate strong functional and business leadership, with a proven ability to influence and collaborate effectively with senior leaders. The ability to leverage marketplace insights and supply base knowledge to create and sustain competitive advantage is essential.
  • Ability to travel up to 20-25%, primarily in US, is required.


Desired Qualifications:

  • Advanced Degree or MBA preferred
  • Experience in a regulated healthcare environment is preferred
  • Expertise with multiple product platform technologies, such as solid dose, liquids, wipes, and aerosol products and associated manufacturing processes is preferred.
  • Demonstrated track record in developing successful data-driven business area growth or functional area growth strategies, including benchmarking, within the applicable industries is preferred.
  • CPG industry experience preferred.

$190,825.00 - $269,400.00
