This is a highly visible leadership opportunity for an experienced coding executive who is passionate about advancing coding excellence, regulatory compliance, provider education, and revenue integrity across a complex academic healthcare environment.
As the Director of Enterprise Professional Coding, you will provide strategic and operational leadership across a large multi-specialty faculty practice organization while partnering directly with physician leaders, academic department chairs, compliance professionals, and revenue cycle stakeholders.

The Role This leadership position is responsible for the strategic direction, operational oversight, and continuous improvement of professional coding, documentation auditing, compliance, and provider education programs across a large academic medical center. You will lead an established team of coding and education leaders while helping shape the future of enterprise coding operations.
In this role, you will:
- Lead professional coding operations across multiple specialties and academic practice settings.
- Oversee Coding Managers, an Education Manager, and their respective teams.
- Partner with faculty physicians, Advanced Practice Providers (APPs), residents, fellows, and clinical leaders to improve documentation quality and coding accuracy.
- Drive key performance indicators including coding accuracy, productivity, denial reduction, charge lag, and revenue cycle performance.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership on coding regulations, compliance, operational performance, and industry best practices.
- Oversee compliance programs, coding audits, education initiatives, and corrective action planning.
- Collaborate with Revenue Cycle, Compliance, Clinical Documentation Improvement, IT, and physician practice leadership to achieve enterprise goals.
- Utilize data, technology, and process improvement strategies to optimize performance and enhance service delivery.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Bachelors Degree Required.
Experience: 10+ years of previous coding experience, to include 5+ years of formal management experience required.
Licensure: See Job Requisition for Certification and or Licensure requirements.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Prior experience in a large, multi-specialty academic medical center or academic faculty practice plan strongly preferred.
Experience with major EHR and coding platforms (e.g., Epic, 3M, Optum CAC) strongly preferred.
Proven experience managing large teams, budgets, and cross-functional stakeholder relationships strongly preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally requires traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
The pay range for this role is $100,835.00 - $201,669.00 annually. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education.
