Brief Description of Duties

The Director of Enterprise Infrastructure is responsible for collaborating in the development and maintenance of the information technology infrastructure at the University and for coordinating with the supporting service provisions by external third parties. The Incumbent provides guidance, coordination and support of all network related services for the University community. The Incumbent works under the direct supervision of the Associate Vice President of Enterprise Services with general oversight provided by the Vice President of Information Services Management (ISM). In addition, the Incumbent works closely with other managers and staff in the ISM department, as well as other leaders throughout the University, to advance program goals and achieve strategic outcomes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Collaborates on the development of ISM procedures, standards, and controls for system administration, operation, and overall performance improvement.
  • Manages system administration and projects related to the network operations system.
  • Manages and provides overall tier 3 support to the University ecosystem.
  • Works with management to plan and/or coordinate internal and external resources to achieve various project goals.
  • Maintains servers, routers, switches, wireless devices and other hardware and associated software to support the normal business requirements and standards as well as during extensive periods of growth and change.
  • Monitors systems performance and reports and identifies and resolves issues.
  • Coordinates and supervises tier 3 service technicians to support ISM systems.
  • Participates in the identification, installation, and deployment of new software applications.
  • Implements hardware upgrades and manages change control.
  • Maintains inventory of networking and data center related equipment.
  • Recommend technological improvements or enhancements that will contribute to increased efficiency.
  • Works closely with management to determine and facilitate technology initiatives.
  • Manages assigned internal ISM support staff sets up performance standards, evaluates performance, helps with corrective measures, takes action regarding unsatisfactory performance, and assists with the continuous professional development of assigned staff.
  • Participates in the selection and management of necessary technology (equipment, systems, and applications), vendors, consultants, etc.
  • Provides a variety of related duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field and/or commensurate experience working in similar positions.
  • At least 10 years of direct experience in IT infrastructure, network engineering and/or tier 3 technical support.
  • Microsoft Certified IT Professional Certification.

If selected, the person shall be required to present no less than 8 proofs of bona fide District residency on or before the effective date of the appointment and maintain such residency for 7 consecutive years from the effective date of the appointment. Failure to maintain bona fide District residency for the 7-year period will result in forfeiture of employment.
