Full Job Description
This Role is Tailor-Made for You Because:
You're an operations-minded, results-driven engineering leader who thrives at the intersection of warehouse management, automated fulfillment, and supply chain technology. You love building resilient platforms that keep product moving and you're just as comfortable setting multi-year strategy with executives as you are walking the floor of a distribution center to troubleshoot a conveyor stoppage or a pick-path issue with principal engineers and operators. You've led teams that power Manhattan WMS, TGW (or comparable ASRS/automated material handling) platforms, and DC integrations across OMS, ERP, carriers, and labeling and you know how to connect them into a seamless fulfillment experience that supports wholesale, retail replenishment, and direct-to-consumer shipments. You value data-driven decision making (throughput, order accuracy, on-time ship rate, WMS uptime, ASRS availability) and create a culture where observability, operational excellence, safety, and inclusive collaboration are non-negotiable. Most of all, you're energized by leading high-impact roadmaps that unlock peak-season readiness, new DC/3PL launch, automation scale-up, and omnichannel fulfillment.

A Day in the Life:

The typical day is... atypical. Your Key Responsibilities may include.

Set Vision, Align & Lead:
  • Own the multi-year architecture and delivery roadmap across Warehouse Management (Manhattan WMS), Automated Fulfillment (TGW / ASRS, conveyance, sortation, pick-to-light, print-and-apply), and DC Integrations - balancing innovation, reliability, safety, and cost.
  • Partner with Supply Chain, Distribution Center Operations, Logistics, Merchandising, Finance, Security, and Digital Product to prioritize initiatives that move business KPIs (throughput, units per hour, order accuracy, on-time ship rate, WMS/ASRS uptime, cost per unit shipped).
  • Define canonical integration patterns, API standards, data contracts, and operational SLAs across DC systems and upstream/downstream platforms (OMS, ERP, TMS, carrier networks, returns).

Build, Ship & Operate:
  • Lead a team comprising multiple vendor squads (Manhattan, TGW, and systems integrators) - setting clear objectives, reviewing designs, unblocking delivery, and coaching for growth.
  • Oversee new DC/3PL launch, DC DR exercise, platform upgrades, and peak-season readiness; guide WMS feature delivery (waving, slotting, picking, packing, replenishment, cycle counting); and champion automation enhancements for orchestration, exception handling, and labor optimization.
  • Run SRE-grade operations: on-call support, incident response, runbooks, change management, and instrumentation/telemetry with dashboards for throughput, latency, error rates, availability, and capacity.

Engineer for Scale & Security:
  • Evolve a modern integration architecture (APIs, messaging, streaming, event sourcing) that connects WMS, OMS, ERP, carriers, and labeling with robust idempotency, retries, back-pressure, and observability.
  • Drive best practices in distributed systems, relational data modeling, and resiliency (circuit breakers, graceful degradation, disaster recovery) so that the DC keeps shipping through partial outages.
  • Partner with Security and Infrastructure to meet enterprise security and compliance expectations, strengthen identity and access controls, and harden device, network, and warehouse edge environments.

Vendor & Program Leadership:
  • Orchestrate complex cross-functional programs across internal teams and strategic vendors; set SOWs, SLAs, quality gates, and QBRs with Manhattan, TGW, and systems integration partners.
  • Communicate crisply up, down, and across the org - translating technical trade-offs into business outcomes, and ensuring executives, DC leadership, and stakeholders are aligned and informed.
  • Manage offshore development partners and on-site/near-site DC support teams with outcome-based performance frameworks.

The consistent thread is that you'll be working with an amazing team of women and men who share your passion for excellence.

To Land This Role:
  • 12+ years of overall experience in software/data engineering supporting supply chain, distribution, or warehouse technology, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Hands-on leadership experience with Manhattan WMS (Active/SCALE or WMi iSeries); ability to own end-to-end configuration, extensibility, upgrades, and operations.
  • Proven experience delivering and operating TGW or comparable automated fulfillment platforms (ASRS, shuttles, conveyors, sortation, pick-to-light) and integrating them with WMS/OMS.
  • Strong knowledge of Distribution Center operations and systems, including waving, slotting, picking, packing, shipping, returns, and cycle counting.
  • Proficiency in a modern programming language such as Java, Python, or equivalent, and RPG as needed for WMi / iSeries environments.
  • Expertise in microservices, API design, messaging and event-driven integrations (e.g., Kafka, Pub/Sub, MQSeries), and ESB patterns connecting DC systems to OMS, ERP, TMS, and carrier networks.
  • Strong command of relational databases (schema design, indexing, query optimization) and experience with data pipelines that surface operational and analytics insights from DC activity.
  • Fluency in instrumentation, telemetry, and observability (metrics, traces, logs; SLOs and error budgets) for mission-critical 24x7 fulfillment operations.
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, Engineering, Supply Chain, or related field.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and stakeholder management skills.

Leadership Skills:
  • Clear communicator - concise, audience-aware, and effective with executives, engineers, DC operators, and vendor partners alike.
  • Strategic & critical thinker who can set multi-year technical direction while making pragmatic near-term trade-offs.
  • Hands-on leader willing to dive deep in design reviews, incident bridges, on-site DC troubleshooting, and code/architecture walkthroughs.
  • Conflict management and stakeholder alignment across Technology, Supply Chain, Operations, Finance, and vendors.
  • Comfort with ambiguity; ability to establish clarity and momentum in complex, evolving environments - including peak-season pressure and new-DC ramp-ups.
  • Program leadership across cross-functional initiatives with crisp execution and measurable outcomes.
  • Vendor management experience including SOWs, SLAs, QBRs, and platform evaluations.
