Full Job Description
Applied Composites (AC) is seeking a Director of Engineering will lead the engineering activities within a business unit or a group of businesses. Will ensures appropriate resources are allocated to achieve financial and business objectives. Influences, shapes, and integrates strategy for functional areas, and participates in setting a growth strategy for the business that is consistent with corporate goals. This position will also be responsible for recruiting, selection, training, development and supervision of staff, providing guidance and support.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Leads and directs the engineering team, and maintains alignment to business strategy
  • Ensures appropriate resources to achieve financial and business objectives
  • Provides managerial and technical solutions to a variety of complex issues
  • Oversees the control of intellectual property per company guidelines
  • Defines processes and procedures to drive the engineering units efficiently and effectively, while ensuring department budget is met
  • Oversees technical and professional development of the engineering function
  • Manages crisis resolution to ensure continuous flow of product development under designated budgets and time restraints.
  • Able to utilize the latest technology to enhance the growth of an organization
  • Manage staff selection, interviewing, selecting of qualified candidates, training and staff development to ensure team competencies and capabilities to reach the business goals and expectations.
  • Responsible for hiring and terminating subordinate employees (or effectively recommending such decisions).
  • Handling employee complaints and grievances; staff mentoring, coaching, counseling, disciplining employees; assigning work among employees; and providing for the safety and security of the employees.
  • Directing employees' work and establish and adjust hours of work as needed
  • Establishes priorities and workflow within the department; identifies root cause, conducts analysis, and resolves issues with appropriate resources departments and/or action plans.
  • Provides staff with standards of performance, job responsibilities and job expectations.
  • Conducts staff meetings to ensure policies and procedures are adhered to and enforced, and when necessary, modified to address changing strategic objectives.
  • Maintain production records for use in supervision; appraising employees' productivity standards and efficiency for recommending promotions or other changes in status.
  • Ensures appropriate management of department staff, including timely completion of performance appraisals and corrective counseling, when appropriate.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.


Job Specifications:

Education: Post-secondary degree in Engineering or equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience that will allow successful performance of job expectations
Preferred Years' Experience: 10 (plus) years of relevant experience
