YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:Reporting to the Vice-President of Sustainability and Regulatory Affairs, you will be part of the Sustainability and Regulatory Affairs Department. You will lead the energy portfolio of the Corporate Energy and Climate Working Group, developing recommendations on the vision and strategy for energy security and resilience, leading the integration of energy initiatives across the company, and ensuring integration of energy-related reporting into LOM & Budget process. You are responsible for presenting strategic recommendations, action plans & technical guidance to the Energy and Climate Steering Committee and Site/Regional Energy & Climate Action Teams. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle's values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.
- Develop the governance strategy and pathway for Agnico Eagle to build energy resilience and reach our decarbonization goals;
- Establish a strong engagement with relevant power authorities and governmental bodies towards solutions that will ensure long term stability of supply for Agnico and for the communities where we operate;
- Manage the Energy Security and Decarbonization Advisor's duties to ensure alignment with the strategy;
- Coach and mentor people in energy and decarbonization;
- Introduce new concepts aligned with this strategy as part of the development of mining projects;
- Work alongside the regional energy teams to develop and support their energy security efforts;
- Contribute to introducing new concepts, alternative energy solutions, and continuous improvement initiatives in support of long-term sustainability objectives;
- Influence strategic planning, capital allocation, and operational priorities by shaping how energy risks, opportunities, and trade-offs are understood across the organization;
- Contribute to improving energy reliability, controlling costs, and supporting the achievement of climate commitments;
- Liaise with Government Relations, Government Officials, Energy Regulators and Energy Suppliers.
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED- Bachelor's degree in engineering, or equivalent technical background;
- Strong understanding of energy policy, energy supply and demand;
- 15 years of experience in energy management (power systems, policy, efficiency and reliability, design, optimization, construction);
- Energy expertise in the mining industry is considered a strong asset;
- 5 years of experience in project management (scope definition, schedule, costs, design, reporting) for different levels, from scoping to feasibility studies;
- A good understanding of the company's strategy in order to focus on the right priorities;
- Excellent communication skills with the different levels in an organization;
- Ability to coach and mentor;
- Experience in different regions such as the Arctic, South, Canada, Australia, etc.
- Fluency in English and French, oral and written,
- The ability to speak Spanish is considered an asset.
Your Work Schedule: - Schedule: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday with the ability to work within the teleworking policy from our corporate office in Toronto, ON. Availability and willingness to travel to difference sites in Canada and abroad is also required up to 40% of the time.
