Role Purpose

The Director provides operational direction over the Emergency Services team, which provides - 90,000 visits per year, integrating BJC system, BJH and clinical program objectives. Works collaboratively to develop and maintain productive working relationship within the hospital (physicians, specialists, service lines, nurses, residents, interns), across BJC Health System, with WUSM clinical chiefs and physicians, other healthcare organization, service providers, consumer organizations, and the greater St. Louis community. Leads change management initiatives to ensure continue delivery of world-class services within the Emergency Department.

Responsibilities
  • Manages individual(s) including but not limited to: onboarding and hiring, training, workload management & performance evaluations, conducting professional development plans as needed. Ensures that the productivity and actions of that group meet/support the overall operational goals of the department as established by department leadership.
  • Develops and adheres to departmental staffing, revenue and/or expense budgets. Responds to changes in the business which may affect the ability to achieve the budget goals.
  • Ensures the delivery of services meet all professional standards of care within accountable areas of influence at all times.
  • Sets the department priorities in alignment with the priorities of the organization.
  • Analyzes trends and statistics to promote efficient utilization of resources and promote quality improvement.
  • Ensures effective coordination and collaboration with chiefs of medical staff.
  • Plans, develops, and directs operations of patient care services and integrates these services with other departments.
