Nurse Manager | 6900 GI/GU Surgery

Our nurses work alongside nationally recognized GI and GU surgeons and are part of a program ranked #20 in Gastroenterology & GI Surgery by U.S. News & World Report. From colorectal and urologic oncology to reconstructive surgery and complex wound care, the team provides highly specialized, evidence-based care while advancing Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) practices.

We are seeking a passionate Nurse Manager who is ready to lead, develop, and inspire a talented nursing team while advancing exceptional patient care.

Position Highlights

• BSN required; MSN preferred
• Full-time, salaried/exempt, 40 hours per week
• Monday through Friday, days
• 3 to 5 years of nursing supervisory experience preferred
• 5 to 10 years of RN experience preferred

Overview

GI/GU Service is consistently ranked in the top 20 in the nation by U.S. News & World Reports. We care for a diverse population of patients needing colorectal and urology surgery. We are leaders in providing Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) care. Our surgeons are leading the way in refining surgical procedures and non-operative techniques, to reduce pain, complications, and to improve outcomes. We are a 38 bed surgical unit with a goal of providing excellent care to all of our patients. Our average nurse to patient ratio is 1:4. Preferred Qualifications

Role Purpose

Responsible for the operational and clinical management of a designated patient care unit(s) on a 24 hour basis. Oversees a span of control and financial responsibility of > 72 FTE's supervised + > $2.5 million in total expenses OR > 40 FTE's supervised + > $5 million in total expenses.

Responsibilities

Manages individual(s) including but not limited to: hires, trains, assigns work, manages & evaluates performance, conducts professional development plans. Ensures that the productivity and actions of that group meet/support the overall operational goals of the department as established by department leadership.

Develops and adheres to departmental staffing, revenue and/or expense budgets. Responds to changes in the business which may affect the ability to achieve the budget goals.

Directs the delivery of safe and appropriate patient care governed by evidence based clinical and management practice.

Ensures team compliance with departmental policies, regulatory requirements and professional standards; keeps policies and procedures up-to-date and participates in revisions as needed.

Promotes, and is accountable for customer satisfaction, process indicators, quality improvement plans and outcomes in work unit.

Researches, evaluates, selects and implements systems which improve efficiency of work unit operations.

Supports and assists the growth of existing or new business/programs.
