Job Description

The EHS Director will be responsible for ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local environmental, health and safety regulations and for developing and implementing policies and procedures to protect the health and safety of employees, tenants, visitors, and the community.

Job Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement an effective EHS program that includes policies, procedures, and training to ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations
  • Institute and ensure the team meets the inspection schedule and compliance audit expectations
  • Oversee the Injury and Illness Prevention Program including investigations into incidents, near misses, and accidents and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence
  • Develop and track EHS training to relevant populations
  • Manage interactions with outside agencies, such as Cal/OSHA, Fire Department, AQMD, CUPA, and local agencies, to obtain favorable investigation results and ensure compliance with regulations
  • Cooperate with other management teams, such as Legal, Studio Design & Construction, Production Services and Facilities, to ensure that EHS considerations are integrated into all aspects of the Studio's operations
  • Develop strategies for compliance with new EHS regulations
  • Compile and present weekly and monthly metrics to management and Corporate EHS
  • Develop and manage EHS metrics
  • Establish and maintain the EHS departmental short and long-term goals
  • Manage consultants and contractors for specific projects and oversee the Contractor Safety Management Program
  • Manage Corporate EHS business audits and coordinate the implementation of corrective actions
  • Understand project and department accounting expectations
  • Ensure Gensuite, the EHS information management system, is used to document company compliance with regulatory requirements and ensure that all tasks, inspections, incidents, near misses, action items, etc. are properly tracked/documented and closed


Qualifications

Basic Requirements:
  • 10+ years of experience in the Environmental Health and Safety field
  • 5+ years of demonstrated experience leading and managing EHS programs and projects
  • Completed bachelor's degree in EHS, engineering, chemistry or biology or another related field
  • Comfortable working in an environment where your direction will only occur through the powers of influence
  • Must have ability to manage multiple priorities and drive implementation of key EHS initiatives
  • Computer savvy and must be comfortable working with enterprise software
  • Must be willing to travel up to 20% of the time
  • Excellent professional verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Requirements:
  • Has worked in a professional environment
  • A master's degree in EHS, engineering, science or another related field
  • Certified Safety Professional or Certified Industrial Hygienist
  • Experience with Gensuite
  • 1-4 years of experience in media, entertainment or film

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift/carry items weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to stand/walk a minimum of four (4) hours per day
  • Ability to work with a computer for extended periods
  • Ability to work in soundstage perms and at heights
  • Respond to Safety Hotline and respond to emergencies during work and off hours

Required On-Site: This position is required to be performed full-time from an NBCUniversal-designated worksite.
