Job Description

The Director-Education & Training provides guidance and leadership to Mayo Clinic Ambulance Service education and training staff. This includes oversight of Cardiac Life Support Education, MCSHS-Emergency Medicine Paramedic Program, internal staff education, orientation programs, and structured training programs. Responsible to assess, develop, implement, maintain, and evaluate outcomes, policies, programs, and services related to education at the institutional, state, and national levels. Assesses the environment, forecasting trends, transmitting values, communicating ideas, coaching and mentoring others, and managing resources. Assesses and analyzes learning needs and implements solutions to meet those needs. Evaluates educational program processes, curriculum and procedures for effectiveness, efficiency, and implements quality improvement efforts. Prepares and manages the education budget.

Qualifications

Master's degree in healthcare administration, education, or business. Minimum of five years' experience in leadership and/or education. Patient care experience as a RN or Paramedic. The incumbent in this role must have demonstrated expertise in project and performance management, qualitative and quantitative data interpretation and analysis, evaluation/measurement, organization development, and the education process. The ability to think critically and creatively to problem-solve, take initiative, work independently, and adapt to a changing environment. Knowledgeable about methods of instruction, testing and evaluation. Knowledgeable concerning current national curricula, national accreditation, national registration, and the requirements for state certification or licensure. It is expected that the Director is qualified to teach in the program and maintains a clinical practice.

Current Paramedic (NRP) or RN license is required. PALS, ACLS and AHA Health Care Provider CPR certification required. Must have and maintain a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record in accordance with Mayo Clinic Policy.
