This role is a hybrid work arrangement. Work schedule to be discussed with the Hiring Manager according to the guidelines defined by the department.

In an era of audience fragmentation and evolving media consumption habits, ensuring the accessibility and discoverability of CBC/Radio-Canada’s content is at the core of our mandate.

In this role, you ensure the strategic alignment as well as the commercial and operational optimization of traditional distribution and digital ecosystems, while fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration. You play a central role in expanding the reach  and prominence of our services, content, and brands by optimizing our partnerships and navigating with agility within a complex business environment.

Key Responsibilities

Distribution Strategy and Commercial Growth

  • Drive the evolution of distribution models by continuously analyzing market trends, technological innovations, relevant legislation and regulation, and new content consumption patterns.

  • Maintain close relationships with key partners to identify and capture new business opportunities.

  • Develop and execute strategies to optimize the visibility and discoverability of our content within distributor interfaces.

Contractual Negotiations

  • Lead and oversee negotiations for complex, multiplatform distribution agreements with broadcasting distribution undertakings (BDUs) and virtual BDUs.

  • Evolve contractual frameworks to reflect new commercial realities and maintain deal coherence.

Cross-Functional Synergy and Alignment

  • Ensure commercial cohesion between traditional and digital distribution 

  • Collaborate closely with various internal teams to align stakeholders around distribution initiatives.

Governance, Operations, and Performance Tracking

  • Define and track key performance indicators and financial budgets and forecasts.

  • Standardize and optimize internal processes for partner evaluation and onboarding.

Leadership and Cultural Transformation

  • Inspire, guide, and coach a dynamic team navigating a rapidly shifting market environment.

  • Act as a change agent to support the department and the organization through an essential cultural transformation, stimulating innovation and collaboration.

Your Profile

  • University degree and a minimum of 10 years of experience in content distribution management, commercial partnerships, or a related sector in the media

  • Deep knowledge of the Canadian media landscape, including traditional (with strong regulatory knowledge) and digital distribution ecosystems, as well as their products and competitive dynamics.

  • Proven track record in closing complex, high-level, multiplatform commercial agreements.

  • Demonstrated ability to navigate, influence, and build consensus within a matrixed and nationwide environment.

  • Proficiency in financial modeling, business planning, and performance management.

  • Proven ability to manage and collaborate with high-level professionals or experts, fostering their autonomy while ensuring strategic alignment.

  • Strong understanding of the digital advertising industry, ad-tech platforms, and monetization mechanisms.

  • Perfect bilingualism (English and French), both spoken and written, with a nuanced understanding of the specificities and sensitivities of both markets.
