What you'll achieve

We are seeking a strategic and technically deep Director of Data Science & AI Engineering to lead the next phase of our AI/ Agentic AI transformation. This leader will be accountable for delivering measurable business impact through scalable, production-grade AI systems, including autonomous and semi-autonomous AI agents, while building and mentoring a high-performing, multidisciplinary organization.

You will:
  • Define and own the enterprise AI, Generative AI, and Agentic AI strategy aligned to business outcomes
  • Lead and scale teams across Data Science, Applied ML, GenAI, Agentic Systems, and ML Platform/MLOps
  • Drive the full AI lifecycle: problem framing, experimentation, model and agent development, evaluation, deployment, monitoring, and continuous optimization
  • Design and oversee agent-based systems capable of planning, tool-use, memory, orchestration, and multi-step reasoning
  • Establish architectural patterns for human-in-the-loop, human-on-the-loop, and autonomous decisioning systems and translate emerging AI capabilities (LLMs, agents, RAG, multimodal models) into differentiated products and operational efficiency

Essential Requirements
  • 12+ years of experience delivering production ML/AI systems; 6+ years leading managers and senior technical teams
  • Demonstrated experience building and deploying large-scale ML, GenAI, and agentic systems in production
  • Deep understanding of modern ML techniques including deep learning, NLP, information retrieval, recommendation, and LLM architectures
  • Hands-on experience with GenAI and Agentic AI patterns such as RAG, fine-tuning, prompt engineering, planning and reasoning loops, tool invocation, agent memory, and evaluation frameworks
  • Strong foundation in cloud-native architectures (AWS, Azure, or GCP), containers, Kubernetes, and ML/AI platforms
  • Experience with MLOps, LLMOps, CI/CD for ML, model and agent monitoring, and cost/performance optimization along with the ability to define technical vision while influencing at the executive level


Desirable Requirements
  • Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Data Science, Machine Learning, Engineering, or a related quantitative field or equivalent experience
  • Experience operating autonomous or semi-autonomous AI systems under enterprise constraints (security, privacy, regulatory, cost) along with familiarity with agent orchestration frameworks, workflow engines, and AI-first platform architectures, AI governance frameworks, agent safety mechanisms, and responsible AI practices


Compensation

Dell is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The base salary range for this position: $250,000 to $305,000
