Job Summary and Qualifications

The Director, Custom Contracting is responsible for developing, negotiating and implementing a strategic capital equipment plan and/or purchased services portfolio for HealthTrust members.

  • Reviewing and optimizing the current GPO contract portfolio and other opportunities as identified.
  • Collaborate with the HealthTrust/ Valify Solutions Group contracting team to lead strategic sourcing initiatives and contract negotiation as applicable.
  • Build strategic alliances with key stakeholders as it relates to a successful capital equipment plan or purchased services expense management program.


Key Responsibilities

Leadership

  • Provides sourcing expertise around capital equipment or purchased services expense management to contribute to the facility or IDN's overall strategic plan, especially as it relates to capital planning and budgets or purchased services (i.e., medical and non-medical categories)
  • Assess and provide leadership around capital equipment or purchased services expense to guide and support organization's strategy
  • Manages capital equipment plan or budget and purchased services project plan, working with key stakeholders from all IDN facilities to drive and achieve savings for all identified capital equipment or purchased services categories
  • Assimilates required information from a variety of sources to include contracts, invoices, volume data and budgets
  • Works with internal team and resources to analyze data, make strategic recommendations and execute a course of action for capital equipment or purchased services savings opportunities
  • Participates in calls and meetings with all stakeholders to review all active contracting projects, etc.
  • Develops, implements, and coordinates within the facility or IDN system
  • A system's approach to an effective capital equipment or purchased services program to include standardizations
  • Policies and procedures related to capital equipment or purchased services budget, planning and expense management
  • Participates in the development of an agenda, follow up on action items assigned through facility or IDN Leadership
  • Standardization of Service vendors and service level agreements as appropriate
  • Coordinates with the HealthTrust Capital Equipment or Purchased Services contracting teams
  • Tracks contract execution, implementation, savings and supplier service levels on an on-going basis to ensure high quality service delivery and savings achieved
  • Negotiates and/or supports custom contracts for capital equipment and service categories


Project Development and Management

  • Manages multiple projects and tasks in a fast-paced environment that includes
  • Strong organization skills, including the ability to plan, implement, and execute
  • The ability to focus and execute exceptional time management skills
  • Demonstrates the ability to develop a project plan for major and complex projects
  • Develops milestones for projects to determine outcomes are achieved, including facilitating customer teams that lead to building consensus and contract implementation
  • Identifies current HealthTrust vendors utilized by facility or IDN where facility or IDN is not yet aligned with the HealthTrust contract and contact identified vendors to request transition to HealthTrust agreements
  • Tracks adoption and conversion to new agreements
  • Develops a pipeline of potential savings opportunities including targeted savings dollars. The pipeline will be prioritized based on potential savings, alignment to contracting cycles, and strategic need for facility or IDN
  • Provides list of vendors to include in sourcing events
  • Assists facility or IDN with identifying key stakeholders to define service level requirements for high priority categories


Customer Service

  • Responsible for managing customer expectations and delivering capital equipment or purchased services cost savings according to estimated timelines
  • Minimizes overlap of projects with contracts already negotiated or those in process by the contracting team
  • Coordinates the capital equipment planning and budget or purchased services process, supervises data analysis, and uses customer participation in the process to achieve goals and objectives
  • Interacts and develops relationships with internal and external stakeholders to better understand needs and challenges which may include clinicians, physicians, supply chain, and hospital leadership
  • Continuously defines and improves customer solutions as it relates to the capital equipment or purchased services programs
  • Provides educational opportunities to customers to understand the capital equipment plan or purchased services program
  • Builds and maintains strong, effective working relationships with a variety of stakeholders within HealthTrust, Supply Chain, organization's leadership, and Value Analysis Teams


Financial

  • Establishes and meets expense savings goals
  • Collaborates with organizations to track and analyze financial data
  • Provides saving enhancement strategies for capital equipment or purchased services working with facility or IDN representatives and the HealthTrust Capital Equipment, Commercial Products and Purchased Services contracting team
  • Develops standardized documents, processes, and calculations for use by the team to quantify savings solutions


Qualifications for this role:

  • Bachelor's Degree is required.
  • 7+ years with healthcare contracting, strategic sourcing, supply chain, capital equipment, purchased services, and related leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with healthcare capital equipment planning, capital budget management, and purchased services strategies.
  • Excellent negotiating skills
  • Demonstrated successful experience with project management and coordination and measurement of project deliverables.
  • Advanced computer skills with MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Software skills with data warehouse and/or Micro Strategies highly preferred.
  • Occasional Travel
