The Opportunity

As a dedicated Director, Corporate Impact - Civic Engagement, you will lead the strategy, development, execution, and oversight of Corporate Impact (CI) programs, initiatives, and partnerships that advance USAA's commitment to serving the military community and its members. You will oversee program governance, lifecycle management, and performance measurement activities to ensure alignment with business objectives, enterprise priorities, and established policies. You will cultivate and strengthen strategic relationships with internal and external stakeholders, identify opportunities to enhance processes and program effectiveness, and drive measurable outcomes that elevate USAA's brand, deepen community engagement, and maximize lasting impact.

We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week.

This position will be based in the San Antonio, TX office location.

What you'll do:
  • Execute Corporate Impact strategy, priorities, and objectives by translating enterprise direction into actionable programs and measurable outcomes.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of Corporate Impact programs and initiatives, including those involving third-party partnerships and collaboration with key stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with local, national, and military-focused nonprofit organizations and community partners, including the creation of Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) and associated performance measures.
  • Establish and maintain metrics and reporting processes to evaluate the impact and effectiveness of Corporate Impact investments and programs, and contribute to internal and external reporting efforts that demonstrate program value.
  • Manage the assigned philanthropic investment budget and related resources, ensuring alignment with Corporate Impact priorities and responsible stewardship of funds.
  • Oversee risk and compliance activities related to Corporate Impact programs, ensuring adherence to grantmaking policies, third-party vendor requirements, and enterprise standards.
  • Represent Corporate Impact in community, industry, and nonprofit engagements, fostering relationships that support program objectives and enhance organizational reputation.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the Association to align Corporate Impact initiatives with business goals and broader organizational objectives.
  • Apply internal and external research to maintain subject matter expertise in designated focus areas, informing program development and identifying emerging trends and opportunities.
  • Ensure adherence to Corporate Impact governance processes, protocols, and program lifecycle requirements, while leading continuous improvement efforts that enhance operational effectiveness and program delivery.
  • Build and lead a high-performing team through recruiting, development, retention, coaching, performance management, and employee support activities.
  • Ensure risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.


What you have:
  • Bachelor's degree in business-related disciplines (e.g., Business, Marketing, Economics), or Public Relations, Communications, Human Resources, Corporate Social Responsibility, or a related field; OR 4 years of related experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree.
  • 8 years of experience in business development, product development, business operations or philanthropic leadership.
  • 3 years of direct team lead or management experience required.
  • Proven experience executing comprehensive corporate impact strategies that align with business objectives and drive measurable societal outcomes.
  • Demonstrated success in building, leading, and developing high-performing teams.
  • Extensive experience in managing complex third-party relationships, including nonprofit partnerships and grantmaking, ensuring accountability and high-quality outcomes.
  • Expertise in developing and implementing robust impact measurement frameworks and reporting for social impact initiatives.
  • Exceptional ability to influence and engage diverse stakeholders, including senior executives, community leaders, and nonprofit partners, building credibility and fostering collaboration.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to translate organizational vision into actionable corporate impact strategies and operational plans.


What sets you apart:
  • Master's degree or accredited professional certification in a relevant field.
  • Experience working in a financial services line of business role at a large corporation. (example: P&C Insurance, Bank, Life Insurance)
  • High-Impact relationship builder with proven ability to both engage and influence senior leaders and engage/impact a large employee base.
  • Exceptional ability to collaborate effectively across various departments within a corporate ecosystem, understanding their impact on the work and the ability to engage externally with key business and civic leaders.
  • Ability to create strategy and drive successful execution through measurement of outcomes, including tracking KPI's.
  • Analytical mindset with ability to derive insights and translate them into practical action plans.
  • US military experience through military service or a military spouse/domestic partner.
  • Highly knowledgeable in non-profit/civic engagement in one or more of USAA's primary campus locations (San Antonio, Tampa, Phoenix, Colorado Springs, Charlotte, Chesapeake, Plano).
  • Highly knowledgeable about social issues that impact and programs that support the military.
  • Expertise in corporate social responsibility communications and storytelling.


Compensation range: The salary range for this position is: $127,310.00 - $243,340.00

Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location.

Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
