Purpose:

Athene is seeking a strategic and analytically driven Director, Corporate Development to help evaluate and execute complex reinsurance and M&A transactions that support the company's long-term growth strategy. Reporting to the Vice President, Corporate Development, this role partners across Finance, Actuarial, Investments, Risk, Legal, and Apollo to assess opportunities that shape Athene's balance sheet, capital position, and competitive advantage.

In addition to supporting transaction execution, this role will lead the continued evolution of Athene's transaction pricing and model governance framework by strengthening modeling standards, controls, documentation, and review processes. This is an opportunity to influence enterprise-level decisions, modernize analytical capabilities, and help position Athene for continued growth through innovative and disciplined capital deployment.


Accountabilities:

  • Lead financial, actuarial, and strategic analysis supporting complex reinsurance and M&A transactions from opportunity assessment through execution and post-close integration.
  • Develop, enhance, and govern transaction pricing models by establishing best practices for assumptions, documentation, validation, version control, change management, and ongoing model performance.
  • Partner across Corporate Development, Actuarial, Finance, Investments, Risk, Legal, and Apollo to evaluate transaction economics, capital impacts, regulatory considerations, and strategic alignment.
  • Drive continuous improvement of transaction underwriting, governance, and analytical processes by implementing scalable frameworks that improve consistency, transparency, auditability, and decision quality.
  • Monitor industry, regulatory, accounting, and capital market developments to identify emerging risks, opportunities, and implications for transaction strategy and valuation.
  • Provide technical leadership through peer review, cross-functional collaboration, knowledge sharing, and mentorship while leveraging advanced analytics, automation, and AI-enabled tools to improve transaction evaluation and decision support.


Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Statistics, Finance or related field. FSA designation preferred.
  • 7+ years of relevant experience in life insurance, reinsurance, corporate development, actuarial, finance, or transaction advisory supporting acquisitions, reinsurance, capital management, or strategic transactions, or relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise evaluating complex insurance transactions, including financial modeling, actuarial analysis, due diligence, valuation, and capital implications.
  • Strong understanding of Statutory, GAAP, Bermuda EBS, Solvency II, and other insurance accounting and regulatory capital frameworks.
  • Experience developing, governing, reviewing, or enhancing complex financial or actuarial models, including documentation, validation, assumption governance, change management, and control frameworks. Experience with actuarial modeling platforms (MG-ALFA, AXIS, Polysystems) and programming languages such as Python, R, VBA, or SAS is preferred.
  • Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders, lead complex cross-functional initiatives, exercise sound judgment in ambiguous situations, and communicate sophisticated technical concepts to executive audiences. Demonstrated innovation, critical thinking, adaptability, and AI fluency are highly valued.

Annual Salary for this role is market competitive.  Actual salary for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.  Depending on the role, a discretionary bonus plan or variable sales incentive may be included.
