Now Brewing - director, Corporate Communications! #tobeapartner
As a director of communications at Starbucks, you will lead through deep expertise in both proactive and reactive communications strategy, always-on, modern media approaches - including earned media, digital storytelling, social amplification, and data-driven tools - and the ability to translate complex business information into compelling narratives for diverse audiences. You will be one in a comms team cohort of trusted advisors to C-suite executives and cross-functional partners, with strong media relationships and a track record of developing integrated, multi-channel communications programs that drive measurable shifts in perception in support of the company's back to Starbucks business strategy. As a people leader, you will set clear goals, coach broadly beyond your own area of expertise, and help build well-rounded, modern communications teams. As a Starbucks director, you should be able to 1) thrive in ambiguity - creating a clear path forward in fast-moving, uncertain environments; 2) build momentum - creating shared purpose and urgency within and across teams; 3) build broad capability - developing others beyond their own domain to grow well-rounded communicators; and 3) think broadly - bringing a long-term, integrated view of the business and external environment to every communications decision.
As a director, corporate communications, you will:
• Lead our business communications strategy, partnering closely with Investor Relations, Finance, and functional business leaders to shape Starbucks enterprise narrative across earnings, investor events, and key business milestones.
• With that narrative, drive day-to-day business media engagement and modern communications tactics for a proactive earned news agenda that positions Starbucks as an innovative growth company, leveraging the back to Starbucks turnaround story to generate positive, high-impact coverage in business and consumer media.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with top-tier business, financial, and trade journalists to ensure Starbucks story is told accurately and compellingly.
• Leverage modern media strategies - including digital storytelling, social amplification, and data-driven tools - to expand the reach and impact of Starbucks communications programs.
• Own the reactive communications agenda for the business, developing rapid-response strategies and messaging that protect and advance the company's reputation on financial and business topics.
• Lead with and through the chief communications and corporate officer and svp, global communications to position senior leaders with strategic messaging, talking points, and media materials that bring the back to Starbucks strategy to life for external audiences.
• Collaborate across the global communications function and with cross-functional partners to ensure integrated, consistent messaging aligned to the company's business priorities.
