JOB TITLE: Director, Construction East Region

DEPARTMENT: Construction Operations

REPORTS TO: VP, Project Delivery

CLASSIFICATION: Full-Time, Exempt

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Director, Construction East Region will lead the planning, execution, and delivery of QGS construction projects across the eastern United States, with a primary focus on DOE/EM/Office of Science and NNSA sites and other federal agencies as the portfolio expands. This role is responsible for overseeing multiple concurrent projects, managing regional project teams, ensuring safety and quality compliance, and driving operational excellence across all assigned work. The Director reports to the VP, Project Delivery and works closely with the Operations, Pre-Construction, and Project Controls teams to ensure seamless project execution from award through closeout.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead and manage all construction operations across the East Region, including project planning, scheduling, resource allocation, and execution of multiple concurrent DOE/NNSA projects
  • Oversee regional project managers, superintendents, and site staff to ensure the safe, on-time, and on-budget delivery of all assigned projects
  • Serve as the primary regional point of contact for clients, subcontractors, and DOE/NNSA site representatives, managing relationships and ensuring alignment with contract requirements
  • Develop and implement operational processes and best practices to maximize efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance quality across all East Region projects
  • Collaborate with the VP of Project Delivery, Operations, and Pre-Construction teams to align regional construction strategies with overall company objectives and pipeline growth
  • Monitor project performance metrics and KPIs, implement corrective actions when necessary, and drive continuous improvement in construction methods, technology, and workforce development
  • Ensure all projects meet DOE, NNSA, and federal safety, environmental, regulatory, and compliance standards throughout all phases of execution
  • Mentor and develop regional team members, promoting a culture of high performance, accountability, and servant leadership consistent with QGS values

What You’ll Bring:

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and progressive construction leadership experience in lieu of a degree. 10+ years of experience in construction management with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role overseeing multiple concurrent projects. 3+ years managing projects in the DOE, NNSA, or federal government space. Hands-on field experience leading construction teams on government projects. Strong knowledge of construction methods, scheduling, cost control, and project management principles. Demonstrated ability to lead and develop large, geographically distributed teams. Excellent financial acumen with experience in budgeting, forecasting, and earned value management. Must either already have or meet all requirements to secure a clearance with DOD and DOE within 12 months of hire.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Experience managing projects at DOE national laboratories or NNSA production facilities (e.g., Savannah River Site, Pantex, Y-12, LANL). Familiarity with construction software such as Procore, Primavera P6, or similar tools. Experience with Design-Build project delivery on federal contracts.
