Job Summary

The Director, Commercial Data Management and Data Quality within Data Strategy & Operations (DSO) is accountable for strategically partnering with the Sr. Director of DSO, DSO Leaders and key functional area stakeholders to lead enterprise commercial data management and data quality capabilities across the full commercial data lifecycle. This role will be responsible for shaping the vision and best practices of Commercial Data Management and Data Quality capabilities to optimize the quality, integrity & reliability of data assets, particularly commercial 3rd party data assets and internally generated assets across all commercial domains including CNS, Nephrology, Digital, and Market Access. This role is accountable for establishing and modernizing commercial data management and data quality tools, processes, and operating models to ensure accurate, consistent, complete and reliable data for downstream processes and activities, valuable analytics and insights generation, and compliance risk mitigation to achieve operational excellence and increase overall data value.

Role, Scope & Expectations

The Director, Commercial Data Management and Data Quality must be comfortable sorting through complex end-to-end data commercial processes and challenges to recommend integrated data management and data quality solutions to modernize and improve business processes and the overall operating model. In addition, this role must be comfortable interacting with cross functional business partners, executing against enterprise initiatives, mentoring leaders, working within matrix structures, and standing up new enterprise capabilities to achieve desired outcomes. The role is expected to positively impact the overall quality, consistency, and usability of commercial data being consumed by critical downstream processes (e.g., Omnichannel, Incentive Compensation). In addition, the Director, Commercial Data Management and Data Quality will be accountable for providing strategic leadership and direction into the ongoing development of processes and tools that will aid in continually evolving & shaping the DSO organization.

Job Description

Reporting to the Head of Data Enablement, this leader will become a driving force of change and provide leadership, oversight, and technical and strategic direction for an integrated commercial data management and data quality execution strategy as well as management of day-to-day data management and quality processes and operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and evolve a commercial data management and data quality execution strategy aligned to organizational objectives and aligned to key stakeholders needs.
  • Be accountable from a business perspective for the planning, implementation, and ongoing management of Otsuka's data lifecycle, data ownership, and data quality objectives to drive field and business partner satisfaction, trusted decision-making and enable the organization to leverage data as an effective asset.
  • Leverage automation, AI/ML-enabled capabilities, and scalable platforms to support modern and innovative data quality monitoring, exception management, and continuous improvement across commercial assets.
  • Partner with key IT stakeholders to establish, oversee, and manage commercial data platforms and tools within a complex information infrastructure.
  • Research and adopt technology to enable customizable views via KPI dashboards that identify trends, risks, and opportunities to across commercial data management and data quality indicators.
  • Collaborate with Data Enablement, Data Acquisition, and other enterprise stakeholders to ensure rigorous quality and control of data from ingestion through downstream consumption.
  • Collaboration with Otsuka's Privacy and Security groups when appropriate to ensure data integrity.
  • Provide direct people leadership and strategic oversight for Commercial Data Management leaders across therapeutic and functional domains.
  • Serve as a liaison between business, functional, and IT groups to define critical commercial data requirements, quality targets, and lifecycle expectations across commercial operations and synthesize stakeholders needs into clear commercial use cases, data quality requirements, and execution plans.
  • Serve as a senior point of escalation for commercial data inquiries and challenges, ensuring root cause analysis and sustainable resolution across domains. Work closely with the Data Acquisition team to inform data quality expectations, SLAs, and vendor performance management.
  • Function as an expert source of commercial data management and data quality best practices to project teams and senior stakeholders.

Qualifications/ Required

Knowledge/ Experience and Skills:

Required
  • Experience with leading commercial data management and data quality capabilities within the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Experience working across commercial data operations, analytics, and reporting environments.
  • Experience supporting commercial portfolios spanning multiple products, therapeutic areas and development phases.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex, cross-functional change initiatives.
  • Experience driving change efforts and driving results through influence, persuasion and relationships.
  • Assesses quickly with a track record of getting up to speed and adding immediate value to new situations.
  • Ability to co-create and work collectively with various business leaders and other key stakeholders.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to organize, conceptually interpret and clearly communicate material developed collaboratively via the input of multiple parties.
  • Strong stakeholder management, communication, influence, and negotiation skills.
  • Up to 10% travel is required based upon business needs.

Preferred
  • Line and performance management experience.
  • Experience leading domain-based data ownership or CDM models


Educational Qualifications

Required
  • Bachelor's degree is required.
  • Minimum 10-12 years of industry related experience within the pharmaceutical industry.
  • 3-5 years of leadership responsibilities.

Preferred
  • Master's degree in relevant field.

Minimum $186,489.00 - Maximum $278,875.00, plus incentive opportunity: The range shown represents a typical pay range or starting pay for individuals who are hired in the role to perform in the United States. Other elements may be used to determine actual pay such as the candidate's job experience, specific skills, and comparison to internal incumbents currently in role. Typically, actual pay will be positioned within the established range, rather than at its minimum or maximum. This information is provided to applicants in accordance with states and local laws.
