Job Description

The Client Development Director serves as the primary point of contact for Acosta clients. Coordinate strategic development, data analysis, sales planning and tactical execution for clients' businesses. Facilitate the communication, presentation and creation of data-informed sales strategies, operating routines and action plans that meet clients' sales and business objectives. Seeking to identify growth opportunities and align resources in order to drive sales initiatives that deliver mutually beneficial results for our clients and Acosta.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively define new and innovative opportunities to maximize client volume, profitability and brand equity by translating data and insights into clear sales priorities and actions.
  • Lead the development, analysis and implementation of clients' sales objectives using customer, category, financial and performance data. A key success factor will be building strong relationships with client sales, category, insights and appropriate headquarters functions.
  • Work with Acosta business units to deliver seamless cross-business service offerings to clients and establish consistent ways of working across teams.
  • Understand the Client sales strategy and business performance, using data to identify trends, diagnose gaps, and provide prioritized recommendations and actions.
  • Build and enhance national programs that leverage Acosta's client and customer portfolio to accelerate distribution, velocity and profitable growth.
  • Responsible for managing, influencing, and expanding client relationships (market, channel and services whitespace) through fact-based opportunity identification and measurable growth plans.
  • Leverage Acosta's extensive resources to influence and develop strategies to address defined opportunities, scope and manage solutions that have a significant impact on our clients' success, and define success measures to track results.
  • Create and lead effective sales rituals and routines, including recurring business reviews, scorecards, opportunity tracking, action planning and follow-up, to drive accountability and client results.
  • Work on special projects as requested by Client Development leadership.
  • Travel as needed.


Qualifications

Education
  • Bachelor of Science Degree


Work Experience
  • 7+ years in the consumer-packaged goods industry, client development, sales, category management or a related field.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Fluent in English and Spanish.
  • Demonstrated competence in the three-core Client Development, Role-Based Competencies - Interpersonal; Analytical; and Achievement Oriented
  • Self-motivated; self-starter; strong leadership and management ability.
  • Strong presentation skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong understanding of sales, category and client development fundamentals, including data interpretation, business planning, forecasting, performance measurement and financial implications.
  • Understanding of agency, manufacturer and retailer roles, functions and data sources.
  • Be able to prioritize multiple demands (retailer, manufacturer, Acosta) simultaneously and influence Associates for results.
  • Proven analytical ability with strong attention to detail and the ability to convert complex data into clear insights, recommendations and actions.
  • Assertive, creative, team player and proven sense of urgency.
  • Proficiency with computers including in-depth knowledge of Microsoft suite of products, especially PowerPoint, Excel and Word; ability to work with client, retailer and syndicated data, dashboards and reporting tools.


Physical Requirements

  • Sit for extended periods (typically 6+ hours per day).
  • Use a computer, including keyboard and mouse, for prolonged periods.
  • Lift and carry light items (e.g., files, office supplies, laptops, typically 20+ pounds).
