Full Job Description
The Director, Chief of Staff serves as a strategic partner and trusted advisor to the Medicaid President, helping drive the organization's priorities, operational effectiveness, and business performance. You will translate strategy into action by coordinating key initiatives, aligning stakeholders, supporting executive communications, and ensuring accountability for results across the Medicaid organization.

As a highly visible leader, you will work across business, functional, and enterprise teams to facilitate decision-making, remove barriers, and advance critical growth, operational, and transformation priorities.

The ideal candidate is a highly collaborative, action-oriented leader with strong executive presence, organizational agility, and business acumen. You are comfortable navigating ambiguity, building relationships across the enterprise, and driving accountability without direct authority. This role offers broad exposure across the Medicaid business and serves as a strong developmental opportunity for future senior leadership positions.

  • Partner with the Medicaid President to establish priorities, drive execution, and support leadership team effectiveness.
  • Lead and coordinate strategic initiatives, ensuring alignment, accountability, and measurable outcomes.
  • Facilitate leadership team meetings, business reviews, planning processes, driving effective decisions and follow-through.
  • Serve as a liaison across Medicaid, Medicare, other business segments, enterprise functions, and external stakeholders to strengthen collaboration and accelerate results.
  • Monitor progress against key business goals, identify risks and opportunities, and help resolve barriers to execution.
  • Develop executive communications, presentations, briefing materials, and business updates for senior leaders and key stakeholders.
  • Support growth initiatives, organizational transformation, and enterprise strategic priorities.
  • Lead the development of executive presentations and Board materials.
  • Handle sensitive and confidential matters with sound judgment and discretion.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in business, healthcare administration, public health, finance, or a related field.
  • 7+ years progressive leadership experience in strategy, business operations, project management, healthcare administration, organizational effectiveness, or a related field.
  • Experience leading complex programs and initiatives across multiple business functions, translating executive vision into actionable plans and delivering results at scale.
  • Demonstrated track record of partnering and influencing senior executives to drive enterprise-wide initiatives and business outcomes.
  • Exceptional communication, relationship-building, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong strategic, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in Medicaid, Medicare, Duals, managed care, government programs, or health plan operations.
  • Knowledge of Humana's business, operating model, and enterprise functions.
  • Experience supporting executive leadership through strategy, business operations, transformation, or Chief of Staff functions.


Additional Information
  • Workstyle: This a Hybrid Office role based primarily at Humana's Waterside location in Louisville, Kentucky, and requires regular in-office presence to support executive leadership and key organizational initiatives.
  • Travel: Up to 25% travel, both within Kentucky and nationwide, to support strategic priorities, leadership engagement, and business operations.

Pay Range
The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.

$184,800 - $254,100 per year

This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
