About the Role

Second Nature is on the hunt for a Director of Business Intelligence to join our finance team. This isn't just a role; it's an opportunity to be at the heart of our continued high growth, transforming raw data into the actionable insights that power critical business decisions.

Reporting directly to our CFO, you'll be instrumental in building, leading, and scaling our BI capabilities from the ground up. You'll partner closely with Revenue Operations, FP&A, data engineering, and our leadership team, providing the analytical backbone that drives our success. If you're a proactive, passionate data leader with a knack for turning complexity into clarity, we want to hear from you.

Results You Will Drive

As the Director of Business Intelligence, you'll be expected to deliver the following key outcomes:
  • Strategic BI Roadmap: Develop, execute, and deliver a comprehensive strategy for a single source of truth as it pertains to business and board metrics, allowing us to understand key analytical needs and priorities across the organization.
  • Actionable Insights: Uncover deep insights into key business drivers, trends, and performance metrics-including ARR, churn, LTV, CAC, sales funnel conversion, and product usage-to identify both opportunities and risks.
  • Enhanced Cross-Functional Partnerships: Drive strong collaborations across the organization to optimize sales and marketing effectiveness (with Revenue Operations), enhance financial forecasting and budgeting (with FP&A), and provide crucial insights on product performance and customer behavior (with product teams).
  • Robust BI Infrastructure: Lead the creation and standardization of impactful dashboards, reports, and analytical tools for all stakeholders, from executive leadership and the Board of Directors to the Revenue Operations team.
  • Real-time Data Accessibility: Leverage AI and our engineering teams to drive automation and compilation of business metrics, enabling real-time data access for users across Second Nature.
  • Consistent Data Governance: Develop and implement a data governance strategy to ensure all Second Nature stakeholders pull, define, and leverage business metrics in a consistent manner.
  • Clear Communication of Findings: Translate complex analytical findings and recommendations into clear, compelling narratives for non-technical audiences, including the Board and executive leadership, ensuring insights drive decision-making.
Competencies Needed

To succeed in this role, you'll need to demonstrate the following competencies:
  • Extensive BI & Leadership Experience: Possess 8+ years of progressive experience in business intelligence, data analytics, or a related field, with at least 3 years in a leadership or management capacity. A Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related quantitative field is required; a Master's degree is a plus.
  • SaaS Industry Acumen: Proven experience in a high-growth B2B SaaS environment is essential, with a strong understanding of core SaaS metrics (ARR, churn, LTV, CAC, etc.) and what drives them. Experience in a private equity-backed company is a bonus.
  • Technical Proficiency: Demonstrated proficiency with leading BI and visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Looker) and comfort working with large, complex datasets. Deep knowledge of data modeling, data management, and data warehousing concepts is key.
  • Problem-Solving & Analytical Skills: The ability to scope out an effective analytical solution even from a vague business problem, coupled with strong analytical and problem-solving skills that translate complex data into clear, actionable insights.
  • Influential Communication: Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills that allow you to influence stakeholders at all levels, effectively conveying complex information to non-technical audiences.
  • Drive & Ownership: A proactive, self-starter mindset with a strong sense of ownership and a genuine passion for data-driven decision-making.
