BNY is seeking a strategic and execution-oriented Director, Business & Function Finance, to support our Infrastructure and Cyber platforms. This role is a key partner to engineering leadership, helping translate strategic priorities into operational outcomes with a focus on workforce planning, vendor management, and executive reporting.

The ideal candidate brings strong business management discipline, financial acumen, and the ability to operate effectively in a complex, global environment. This is a high-impact role for someone who thrives at the intersection of strategy, operations, and execution, and who can drive clarity, accountability, and continuous improvement across a large-scale engineering organization.

We're seeking a future team member for the role of Director to join our Engineering Business and Finance Management team. This role is located in New York.

In this role, you'll make an impact in the following ways:
  • Partner with senior engineering leaders to translate strategic priorities into actionable workforce plans
  • Identify, assess, and manage financial risks and opportunities across the organization
  • Support workforce planning and resource optimization, including headcount forecasting and requisition pipeline management
  • Work closely with the CFO to correlate financial impacts and variances with workforce trends
  • Deliver reporting and insights to support data-driven decision-making around organizational health, capacity, and talent demand
  • Oversee vendor-related planning and governance across external labor, software, and purchased services
  • Support procurement processes including demand intake, approvals, purchase order creation, and invoice coordination
  • Develop and maintain high-quality executive reporting materials for leadership reviews
  • Drive process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, controls, and overall quality of business management support
  • Contribute to ongoing transformation efforts and help evolve the operating model to support long-term business performance


To be successful in this role, we're seeking the following

Required qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Significant experience in business management, finance, chief of staff, operations, or a related function within a complex organization
  • Experience supporting senior leaders and operating in a highly matrixed, global environment
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality work under tight timelines
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to turn data into actionable insights
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including executive-level presentation and reporting capabilities
  • Proven ability to build strong partnerships across finance, engineering, HR, sourcing, and other support functions


Preferred qualifications
  • Experience supporting engineering, technology, or infrastructure organizations
  • Familiarity with workforce planning and organizational resource management
  • Experience with vendor governance, procurement processes, and external spend management
  • Exposure to large-scale operating model or organizational transformation initiatives
  • Strong continuous improvement mindset with the ability to streamline processes and enhance controls
