Full Job Description
We are seeking a Director, Business Development to join the team in our Toronto or Vaughan Offices.

Reporting directly to the Chief Markets Officer, the Director will be responsible for leading the firm's business development efforts on a national scale, by driving revenue growth in the firm's strategic markets through the expansion of existing client relationships and new clients. This includes management of the BD Managers and other BD resources within Markets' team.

This is a hands-on role for a senior, polished, confident and experienced business development professional who possesses strategic thinking and strong leadership skills, sound judgment, superior relationship development skills, excellent written and oral communications skills, and demonstrated success in client relationship development and management at senior levels.

The successful candidate is a proven leader who will establish immediate credibility as the "go to" senior professional for client relationship building, lead generation and sales, and business development initiatives, who will have 10+ years of experience in business development, preferably within a national law firm or professional services firm, and a proven track record in driving revenue growth. The ideal candidate should have extensive experience in operations and managing large and diverse teams.

Key Responsibilities:

Business Development
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive national business development strategy in collaboration with the Chief Markets Officer and executive leadership team.
  • Identify new business opportunities and market trends, and develop strategies to capitalize on them.
  • Work closely with practice and specialty group leaders and partners to identify cross-selling opportunities and develop strategies to grow existing client relationships.
  • Lead the development of proposals, pitches, and presentations for key client accounts and new business opportunities.
  • Monitor and analyze business development metrics and KPIs to track performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with industry influencers, and other external stakeholders.
  • Represent the firm at industry events, conferences, and networking functions to promote the firm's brand and capabilities.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, market developments, and competitor activities, and make recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Other duties as required.

Management
  • Lead a team of approximately 15 business development professionals, providing direction, support, and mentorship to drive performance and achieve business objectives.

What You'll Bring:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field; MBA preferred.
  • Minimum of 10+ years' experience in business development, preferably within a national law firm or professional services firm.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a team, experience in managing diverse teams.
