DescriptionNorthrop Grumman is seeking a Director of Business Development & Capture to lead the Enterprise Priority Capture team to conduct independent capture analyses company-wide and drive the execution of outcome assessments, ensuring that lessons learned are systematically documented and applied to future pursuits. As a member of our Corporate Business Development team, you will lead the execution of business development initiatives across the Enterprise. This includes but is not limited to color teams, gate reviews, post-award plan, the eventual transition to execution, etc.
You will partner with sector, corporate, and functional leaders to guarantee Northrop Grumman is consistently positioned for success in a dynamic competitive environment while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge reuse.
This position will be primarily located in Falls Church, VA, however a hybrid schedule of virtual and onsite will be available to those within a reasonable commuting distance to the corporate office.What Success Looks Like- Independent Capture Analyses: All enterprise-priority captures conduct independent analyses in line with key acquisition milestones providing a consistent and actional deliverable to improve capture strategy contributing to the improvement of pWin.
- Outcome-Assessment: All captures generate a timely post-award outcome assessment enabling rapid learning and course-correction.
- Lessons-Learned: Timely and accurate identification and documentation of best practices and lessons learned that are widely communicated, and embedded in future capture plans improving win rates and reducing repeat mistakes
- Strategy Workshops: All independent analysis provided will be followed by additional sessions with more focused areas of help needed identified to address return to green plans. Ex: value proposition and win strategy, stakeholder engagement, competitor deep dives, etc.
Responsibilities- Lead Independent Capture Analyses: Own the end-to-end capture-analysis process for all enterprise-priority opportunities, producing unbiased, data-driven assessments that evaluate competitive position, capability gaps, and risk. Synthesize inputs from sector SMEs, supply-chain, engineering, strategy, and other functional groups into cohesive analysis products.
- Conduct Enterprise-Wide Outcome Assessments: Conduct the post-award assessment program that captures win/loss data, lessons learned, and actionable recommendations. Ensure timely completion of outcome assessments and track implementation of improvement actions across the enterprise.

- Strategic Guidance & Project Leadership: Advise complex capture initiatives, ensuring delivery within scope, schedule, and growth-goal parameters. Drive key messaging and collateral creation with sector, corporate, and functional partners; steward execution of enterprise capture strategy.
- Continuous Improvement & Innovation: Champion a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and excellence across the Business Development organization. Identify and implement process enhancements that increase efficiency and capture effectiveness.
Basic Qualifications:- Education: Bachelor's degree and at least 12 years of relevant experience; Master's degree and at least 10 years of relevant experience.
- Relevant Capture Experience: Extensive experience as a senior Capture or BD professional within the Aerospace & Defense Industry. Proven ability to deliver independent, critical assessments that improve capture strategy and outcomes.
- Leadership: Demonstrated experience leading large, diverse, multi-location teams and driving outcomes to closure at speed.
- Communication: Exceptional written and oral communication; adept at interfacing with executives and senior leaders.
- Discretion: Maintain a level of discretion and confidentiality when dealing with executive leadership and special projects.
- TechnicalSkills: Advanced Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), CRM, Pipeline, Strategy, and Proposal tools.
- Security Clearance: Active Secret, with the ability to obtain TS/SCI clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:- Advanced Education: Master's degree (or higher) with X+ years of combined BD/Capture and learning-facilitation experience.
- International Capture Experience: Extensive experience as a senior Capture or BD professional within the Aerospace & Defense Industry for both domestic and international pursuits. An understanding of international security cooperation, including supporting processes such as requirements development and customer engagement strategy.
- NGC Standards: Working knowledge of the Northrop Grumman Business Acquisition Process (BAP). Knowledge of Northrop Grumman internal organization, processes and tools standard CRM, Pipeline, Strategy, and Proposal systems.
- Security Clearance: Active TS/SCI clearance.
Primary Level Salary Range: $203,900.00 - $305,900.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
