We are now seeking a Director Architecture & Engineering who can seamlessly connect business objectives with technical solutions and implementation. You will collaborate with VFS regional and global digital delivery area heads, the global architecture team, and business product owners, and be part of the regional Digital & IT management team. This is a unique opportunity to combine technical leadership, people development, and transformation in a key role. This role is based in Greensboro, North Carolina, and requires you to work on-site at Volvo Financial Services' North American Headquarters. What you will be doing: • Providing technical leadership and mentorship, setting architecture, engineering, and operational best practices while actively contributing hands-on. • Translating business needs into technical architecture, roadmaps, and key design decisions, including trade-off analysis. • Designing and implementing scalable end-to-end enterprise architecture on platforms like Salesforce and Azure aligned with enterprise standards. • Leveraging established Design Authority to enforce standards, governance, and best practices across teams. • Lead integration of operational systems, analytics platforms, and AI/ML use cases. • Ensure team is designing application architecture that guides product development, emphasizing the reuse of business components and adherence to modern architectural principles aligned with the North Star principles and vision. • Oversee Life Cycle Management (LCM) of application/systems vulnerabilities and ensure alignment with Volvo Group Security directives. • Proactively identify architectural issues and concerns and define pragmatic and appropriate solutions. • Make fact-based architecture decisions, assuring maximal business value with minimal effort, while keeping the total cost of ownership as low as possible. • Continuous improvement mindset; willing to challenge status quo and dissent when needed. What you will need: • A relevant engineering degree (preferably Bachelors/Masters in Computer Science) with experience in managing large, complex enterprise environments. • Designing REST APIs, event-driven APIs, and microservice architecture in a cloud-based environment. Experience with modernizing legacy applications to use newer technologies and architecture. • Minimum of five years of experience leading technical teams and a minimum of 15 years of industry experience, preferably in captive or financial services, with a track record of delivering high-impact, high-visibility work. • Leadership experience managing teams and taking ideas from concept to production, with real autonomy and responsibility. • Hands-on experience with Azure Cloud, J2EE/.NET Technology Stack, Data and AI platforms, architectural frameworks and Agile practices including Azure DevOps. • Strong communication skills demonstrated interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees, leaders, customers, and other stakeholders. For this position, the base pay is set at $143,600.00 - $177,300.00 annually, and where applicable, bonus eligible. The range for this role, as well as final salary offered, is determined by several factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, work-related knowledge, certifications, skills, education, and experience.
