What you'll be doing

As part of the Commercial and Corporate Banking Technology Group, you'll take on the role of Director, Production Application Support, overseeing the ongoing operation and implementation of production applications and infrastructure. This includes supporting the Corporate Cash Management Application and orchestrating internal CIBC systems such as payments, compliance, general ledger (GL), and other platforms to meet business requirements while adhering to operational and service standards, policies, and procedures. You'll leverage your leadership skills and technical expertise to streamline operational and technical processes, drive automation, and proactively detect and prevent chronic issues. Ensuring workloads are balanced to meet client requirements and improve performance, you'll guide your team in achieving operational objectives and work plans. Coaching employees, you'll facilitate the timely and efficient deployment of technology solutions that meet business needs, support innovation, and apply strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.

How you'll succeed
  • Production Support - Oversee the gating, validation, acceptance, and operations of all applications into production, including Corporate Cash Management and orchestration of internal CIBC systems such as payments, compliance, general ledger, and related platforms. Monitor application services performance and effectiveness to the business, support budget planning, identify priorities, and balance workload to the capacity and capabilities of team members. Meet Application Support needs of the business unit, including selection of alternatives and assessment of risk associated with each alternative.
  • Leadership - Lead, motivate, develop, and manage the performance of one or more teams. Set appropriate context when assigning work to ensure individuals' roles support the achievement of the business unit's priorities and CIBC's overall goals. Build team and individual capabilities by providing development opportunities such as job shadowing, special projects, and training. Manage performance by providing fair and accurate formal and informal feedback, removing obstacles to performance, and explaining how performance expectations align with business priorities. Create a positive work environment, champion CIBC's mission, vision, and values, and hire the right people in the right jobs to align individual capabilities with job requirements and business unit goals. Supervise approximately 5 to 10 staff.
  • Operational Execution - Support the development and execution of strategies for Production Support and Quality solutions, ensuring operational stability and excellence in core parts of CIBC trading systems, Corporate Cash Management, and internal orchestration platforms.
  • Relationship Management - Partner with Corporate Banking Front Office, Middle Office, Risk, Back Office, and other internal stakeholders. Contribute to overall business strategies, identify opportunities for automation and technology leverage to meet business goals, increase efficiency, and support operational and quality excellence. Effectively manage timely communications during high-stress crisis situations with a measured approach to ensure all stakeholder concerns are addressed.


Who you are
  • You bring extensive production support expertise. You have 7+ years' experience supporting trading systems, Corporate Cash Management applications, orchestration of internal banking systems (such as payments, compliance, general ledger), release management, and quality assurance oversight, as well as collaborating with audit, vendors, governance, and compliance functions.
  • You're a people leader. You've successfully managed mid-sized teams (5-10), providing coaching and development opportunities, and aligning individual capabilities with business goals.
  • You're a stakeholder management expert. You possess strong stakeholder management skills and a clear understanding of how the Commercial Banking line of business operates and manages risk. You handle escalations, prepare production dashboards focused on analytics, and identify opportunities for technical innovation and automation.
  • You have technical proficiency. You have hands-on experience with industry-leading telemetry and observability platforms such as Splunk, Dynatrace, Datadog, AppDynamics, New Relic, and the ELK stack.
